What is Special Olympics?
I have noticed a few errors people make about Special Olympics.
  • Most people misunderstand who is eligible for Special Olympics. In order to be a Special Olympics athlete, you must be mentally handicapped.
    • Having only an emotional handicap (BD, ED, et al) does not make you eligible.
    • Having only a learning disability does not make you eligible. Albert Einstein, even though he was dyslexic, could not have competed.

PUMA and Special Olympics make a winning team!
You run for the high. You run for your health. You run because nothing in the world comes close to the feeling you get. It's about setting and reaching goals - high goals, hard goals, your own goals - because if you're not moving forward, you're not moving at all. And you're always ready for a challenge. The tougher, the better. If you want to challenge your mind as well as you body, this is the race for you.
