This truly was a dream for me. I consider my trip to Atlanta for the 1996 Olympics one of the greatest experiences of my life. I went from the jubilation of witnessing history to the horror of realizing I left a half-hour before the bomb went off right where I was standing. "The first years after Athens took the Games the progress of preparations were disappointingly slow," Rogge told Greece's Ethnos newspaper. "In recent years though the progress achieved by Athens organizers and the government is impressive."
