NSS presence at opening of Magnificent Desolation (September 23, 2005)
National Space Society members and leaders were out in force for the world premiere of the new Tom Hanks IMAX space film, "Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D," at the National Air and Space Museum. "This film really enables the audience to share in the experience," said Dr. David Scott, Apollo 15 astronaut and a Technical Consultant on the film's crew. "It's a combination of entertainment and education - the people really enjoy it, but they learn something, too."
Read Katherine Brick's review of the premiere, including photos by Bruce Janele. More information on the film, including theaters where it is playing, available

Astronautica space wire And if we really fear the darkness, if we really fight against it, then, for the good of all, let us take our rockets, let us get well used to the great cold and heat, the no water, the no oxygen, let us become Martians on Mars, Venusians on Venus, and when Mars and Venus die, let us go to the other solar systems, to Alpha Centauri, to wherever we manage to go, and let us forget the Earth....all that matters is that somehow life should continue, and the knowledge of what we were and what we did and learned: the knowledge of Homer and Michelangelo, of Galileo, Leonardo, Shakespeare, of Einstein! And the gift of life will continue. -Ray Bradbury

Brief Introduction to the International Space Station Above: The International Space Station The International Space Station (ISS) is to be the largest structure in space. When completed in 2003 it will be 290 feet long, have a wing span of 356 feet and 4.5 inches, and weigh 414 tons. It will take over 50 launches to complete and is the largest international space project ever undertaken, involving teams from the United States of America, Russia, Canada, Japan, Brazil, and eleven European countries. Powered by solar arrays it will be able to generate 110 kilowatts of power. When done it will support a permanent international crew of seven astronauts and their experiments. The assembly will require launch vehicles from the United States, Russia, and possibly Japan and France. It will be assembled by flight crew onboard the shuttle and later on the ISS its self.

ALISFS (Atheist Lost in Space Fans)
UPDATE: 10/16/04
I have decided to take most of the links off of this page and put them on a separate page. Click here to get to the links page. All updates etc. to this page will be featured on that page as well.
UPDATE: 9/9/04
Good news! The webpage that inspired this one has bit the dust. Sometimes, life is good. :)
This page has been put together in the spirit of that old cry:
"Enough is enough!"
Christian Star Trek pages litter the net, piling up the nonfalsifiable "believe first, then see" absurdity of christianity with the gosh-wow-boy-oh-boy 300 pound male virgin in his 40s living in his parent's basement idiocy of Star Trek fandom.
And now we have a christian Lost in Space page, which examines the christian connotations of the Lost in Space episode "Condemned of Space." That page is now dead, but it has been archived. Click on the ALISF links page to see it.
As Frank Zappa would say,
"Pheeeyew!"
I suppose it couldn't be avoided. But still, isn't Lost in Space a bit of a bad fit for bible thumping christianity?
For one thing, the show was completely neutral on the subject of religion. For whatever reason, LIS was inclusive: an Atheist could watch the show without having to have delusions rammed down his throat.
