Others lecturers include Dr. Fred S. Blomshield, head, Propulsion Research Branch at the Naval Air Warfare Center, China Lake, Calif., and Dr. Vigor Yang, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University. Blomshield is an expert in experimental methods and their application in combustion instability testing, especially in nonlinear systems. Yang has pioneered the application of numerical methods in the solution of unsteady internal flows with combustion. He has developed new algorithms that clarify the coupling of acoustic/shear waves to combustion. Like Flandro, Yang received his Ph.D. from Caltech.

Welcome to Open Space World! (English)
This site is an open invitation to connect with the people and practices, insights and experiences that are Open Space. It was created in the spirit of the simple, powerful functionality that is Open Space Technology to provide easy access to Open Space organizations, practitioners and resources springing up all around the world. The OpenSpaceInstituteUSA is just one of many Open Space Institutes (OSI's) worldwide, all born and raised by the efforts of volunteer members. Most of these OS Institutes have their own websites, as do a number of individual practitioners and other organizations. You'll find many links to these here. And just like Open Space meetings, this site runs on passion bounded by responsibility. So we hope you will be learning AND contributing here, too. Your suggestions are always welcome, but don't be surprised if we invite you to help meet the needs you identify! HowToUseThisWikiWeb explains how to add/edit the pages here.

The following publications will be helpful for your exploration of Open Space. Only the first four deal directly with Open Space Technology, its uses and interpretation. The balance provide the merest hint of the broad tapestry of thought and practice which has been useful in our collective journey.
The Spirit of Leadership
(Owen, Berrett-Koehler, $15.95) All about leadership in Open Space, a very different thing than the traditional command and control. Liberating the human Spirit to achieve its potential is the name of the game, and that is precisely the Open Space experience. It could become the everyday experience. The Power of Spirit: How Organizations Transform (Owen, Berrett-Koehler, $19.95) This book is about Spirit and the ways in which Spirit forms and transforms in organizations. In the face of organizational dysfunction and a massive outbreak of Soul Pollution (stress and burnout), the message of this book is clear. Things do not have to be this bad. Profits may be soaring, and so should the human Spirit, and it can – provided we learn to appreciate and care for Spirit's new manifestation in a transforming world. The Open Space experience becomes the experimental laboratory for our learning and a launch pad for a new way of being in organization. Open Space Technology: A User's Guide (Owen, 2nd Edition, Berrett-Koehler / $24.95) All you ever wanted to know about facilitating an Open Space event. Included are the specifics about time, place, logistics, invitation and follow-up. Special attention is devoted to the preparation of the facilitator and when

28 May 2003
Almost two years have gone by since ESA set up the SpaceGrid study to see how the emerging use of the electronic grid could increase and improve the use of space applications. The study is now complete and last week representatives of industry and academia met to discuss the outcome.
So what is the Grid?
To paraphrase Ian Foster, an early mentor of grid computing for research, “Grid computing is the large-scale integration of computer systems, via high-speed networks, to provide on-demand access to data-crunching capabilities not available to one individual or group of machines”. For instance, young value-added companies or private individuals with limited computer capacity can select heavy files, such as Earth observation images and data, and then give instructions for these to be processed in order to receive crop yield estimates. Once the processing is complete, the relatively ‘light’ files with the results can be sent to their computer for further use. The benefits - in terms of time, money and resources - are clear.

DEPARTMENT OF ATMOSPHERIC AND SPACE SCIENCES About us... IMPORTANT ADMISSIONS The Department of Atmospheric and Space Sciences came into existence on 25 January 2004 by combining the activities of Department of Space Sciences and the Atmospheric Physics program of the Department of Physics. The Department Of Space Sciences (DOSS) itself was formally established in 1996. DOSS began its activities (1994-1997) by offering specializations for Atmospheric and Space Sciences to the students of M. Sc. Physics and started its own M. Sc. Space Sciences program in 1998. The M.Tech (Atmospheric Physics) program has been running in the Department of Physics since 1988 in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology. This course is shifted to this Department. FACULTY To give direction to the teaching and research for the subject of Space Sciences the Indian Space Research Organization has given a Chair Professor to the Department. Dr. R.R. Kelkar
