Click Here to view old orphaned pictures of prior residents of Spink County. The originals of these pictures need a new home. Take a look and see if you know any of these people. INTERESTING "FACT"? According to Les Spink, who lives in England near Nottingham, and whose father's family came from Harrogate in North Yorkshire, the name SPINK is originally an old north country word, or name, for FINCH . A piece of trivia for whatever it might be worth. Les' email address apparently no longer works so I cannot offer a link to raach him for further information BLM LAND RECORDS If you are interesting in examining the Bureau of Land Management's index to land records for Spink County, South Dakota, then you may want to visit the link that follows. The information on this link was made available due to the efforts of Joy Fisher, the State Coordinator for South Dakota who has done a fantastic job of putting together the State site as well as developing records for the archives.

About the South Dakota GenWeb Project
Welcome to the SDGENWEB ! The project was started in June of 1996 when a group of genealogists from across the United States ( USGenWeb ) got together to create a single contact point for every county in the nation where genealogical databases would be indexed, cross-linked and stored, resulting in an index of our ancestors from anywhere in the world ( WorldGenWeb One individual (from each county in every state) was found to coordinate the collection of genealogical databases and generally oversee the contents of that county on the web page. This Lyman County page Descendants) maintained by Barbara Speck Lyman County resident. This site is updated on a regular basis. You are visitor since Sept. 6, 1998 Come on in!

An address, phone number and e-mail, if available, is listed for each Register of Deeds. South Dakota's Vital Records System The law implementing the South Dakota Vital Records System took effect in July 1905. This system contains birth, death, fetal death, marriage, divorce/annulment and burial records. The Vital Records System, led by the Department of Health, has 64 local Registers of Deeds, which have helped to build and maintain the system. In general, the State and County offices each hold a set of standard birth, death and marriage records. In some instances however, County offices have records prior to the creation of the Vital Records System. These exceptions are listed on each county page. Birth Records Death Records Marriage Records
Birth Records Standard Birth Records As a standard, the State and County offices have all birth records filed after 1905. Records were also allowed to be filed for births that occurred prior to the creation of the Vital Records System.
