State Board of Education Regulation (1992) provides various options for the delivery of instruction in grades 9-12, although students are not explicitly required to take health in order to graduate. The South Carolina Board of Education adopted the Health and Safety Standards on May 10, 2000. The state does not require schools to follow a specific curriculum, nor does it provide one. Students in South Carolina are not required to take an assessment that covers health education at any point.
