Educator Certification Our current estimated processing time for certification is ten to twelve weeks. The purpose of the Office of Educator Certification Web site is to help educators and the general public find up-to-date, relevant information pertaining to all facets of teacher certification, including but not limited to, the certification process, regulation changes, updating existing certificates and valuable links to information for educators. Any changes or updates to an individual's certification file require submission of a Request for Change/Action form (pdf format) to the Office of Teacher Certification, Landmark II Office Building, Suite 500, 3700 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC 29204. Professional Certificates have been processed for those educators who held an Initial Certificate which expired June 30, 2005, or expires June 30, 2006, and have presented a passing score on the appropriate Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) exam, and successfully complete the ADEPT formal evaluation process. If you do not receive a Professional certificate and know that you have completed the requirements please submit the Request for Change/Action form (pdf format) that can be downloaded from this website and make the request. We will evaluate your file individually once your request is submitted.

Print This Email This Interpretation and Violation of Rules - The South Carolina State Fair reserves to fair management the right to interpret the following rules and regulations and determine all matters pertaining thereto; also the right to amend or add such rules as warranted. Violation of any of these regulations shall cause forfeiture of all privileges, prize money and the rights to further participation by the violator. This shall apply to all departments of the South Carolina State Fair. Youth Admissions Policy - All youth under the age of sixteen (16) years old must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian, twenty-one (21) years old or older, to be admitted to the fair after 6:00 pm. Anyone age sixteen (16) and over may be asked to show a valid drivers license in order to be admitted to the fair without a parent or guardian. Any young adult age sixteen (16) through twenty (20) without a valid driver's license and not accompanied by a parent or guardian will not be admitted after 6:00 pm . Security - All containers, packages and persons are subject to search upon arrival at the fairgrounds. The following items are not permitted on the fairgrounds:

Below are the four state laws that refer to home schooling in the State of Rhode Island: Compulsory attendance laws: 16-19-1 Attendance required - Excuses for nonattendance TITLE 16 Education CHAPTER 16-19 Compulsory Attendance SECTION 16-19- (b) Every child enrolled in school who completes or has completed sixteen (16) years of life and who has not yet attained eighteen (18) years of age shall regularly attend school during all the days and hours that the public schools are in session in the city or town in which the child resides unless the person having control of the child provides written permission to the school department of the city or town to terminate the child's enrollment. Provided, however, that nothing in this subsection or in subsection (a) of this section shall prohibit or limit cities or towns from enacting programs of early intervention and/or mediation in an effort to address the problems of students who are habitually late or absent from school.

Registration/Licensing/Accreditation: Recordkeeping/Reports: Discrimination: Special Education: Health: The Department of Health and Environmental Control has the authority to inspect private school lunchrooms and sanitary facilities. 1982 Op. Atty. Gen., No. 82-10, p. 12. Safety: Transportation: Home Schooling: Parents or guardians may teach their children at home if the instruction is approved by the district board of trustees in the district in which the child resides. Home school programs that meet the following standards will be approved:
  • The parent holds at least a high school diploma or the equivalent GED certificate and attains a passing score on the basic skills examination or has earned a baccalaureate degree; The instructional day is at least four and one-half hours, excluding lunch and recesses, and the instructional year is at least 180 days; The curriculum includes, but is not limited to, the basic instructional areas of reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies and, in grades 7 through 12, composition and literature; As evidence that a student is receiving regular instruction, the parent shall maintain the following records for inspection upon reasonable notice by a representative of the school district: a plan book, diary, or other written record indicating subjects taught and activities in which the parent and student engage; a portfolio of samples of the student?s work; and a record of evaluations of the student?s academic progress;
