4. FairEconomy.org - Inspiring Action To Close The Economic Divide.
UFE raises awareness that concentrated wealth and power has negative effects on society. UFE supports and helps build social movements for greater equality.
http://www.faireconomy.org/
United for a Fair Economy is a national, independent, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. UFE raises awareness that concentrated wealth and power undermine the economy, corrupt democracy, deepen the racial divide, and tear communities apart. We support and help build social movements for greater equality. United for a Fair Economy extends our deepest sympathies to those who were affected by Hurricane Katrina. In this very difficult time, we offer condolences for those lives lost, and our most sincere hopes and wishes for the gradual recovery and healing of all those in the affected areas.
We are also humbly reminded of the importance of shining a spotlight on economic inequality in the United States. In the days, months and years ahead, we will draw inspiration from those who are already beginning the important work of rebuilding their communities and lives.

This site provides a space for the study of social movements in the U.S., including those movements as linked to transnational and global movements. Our emphasis is on recent and contemporary movements, but we also aim to provide materials on earlier movements. We seek to bring together the best insights of sociology, political science, anthropology, history, cultural studies, American studies, ethnic studies, women's studies, and other fields of social movement analysis, as well as the insights of movement activists inside and outside of academia. The site currently consists of links to on-line articles, bibliographies, course syllabi, conferences, a glossary of terms for movement analysis, and sets of links to historically-oriented and contemporary sites categorized by movement type. A listserv on social movement cultures, as well as other interactive elements are planned for the future. We hope the site will prove useful to a variety of scholars, activists, and activist-scholars.

Guatemala Radio at Risk The government of Guatemala charges radio stations $28,000 for bandwidth, an inordinate sum for community radio stations that are operated by volunteers and typically have a two-to-five mile broadcast range. Consequently, bandwidth is rapidly being bought up by commercial radio stations that broadcast only in Spanish and do not address themes of concern to the Maya population. The remaining bandwidth is often usurped by wealthy evangelical interest groups. Read more From: Cultural Survival, Inc.
