Grambling's Soccer Coach Announces Resignation
By GSU Sports Information
Grambling, LA -
Grambling State head soccer coach Matthew Okoh recently announced his resignation from the university to pursue other professional opportunities. Okoh, Louisiana’s 2004 Soccer Coach of the Year led his Lady Tigers to the 2004 SWAC Soccer championship with a 16-6 record in only the schools second year of participation. Historically noted as Grambling’s first ever women’s soccer coach Okoh recorded an 8-12-1 record in his first season and won the 2003 SWAC Western Division Championship. His 2004 record would be recorded as the second best turn around season in Division I women’s soccer. The former Major League Soccer standout final ledger at Grambling includes a 24-18-1 overall record including 8-0 in the SWAC Western Division. He’s claimed two Divisional Championships in as many years and one Conference Championship. “I would like to thank Grambling State and the community of Grambling for the opportunity to serve them as their first soccer coach. I wish the student-athletes and the program the best of luck and great success in the future”, said Okoh.

The olympic summersport soccer. In the history of the olympic soccer, therewas just one draw match in a final. Argentinia Uruguay was 1-1.
http://library.thinkquest.org/25114/eng/sporten/voetbal.html
Soccer
Champions League?
Soccer in the begin of the Olympics was a kind of Champions League. In 1896 was the soccer not nice, there was a qualifier between two Greek teams, and the winner played against a Danish team. The Danes won from Smyrna (the Greek team) with 15-0. In 1904 there were again 3 teams, one Canadese team and two American teams. By the Interim-Games just the same as in 1896, the Danes won from Smyrna.
In 1924 was the tourney 22 teams big, and in 1952 there had to be qualifiers because of the too many teams which wanted to join the Olympics.
The greatest victory at the Olympics was in 1908 when the Danes won from France with 17-1. The Danish vanguard scored 10 goals in that match.
In 1964 there was a Hungarian who scored 12 goals in the whole tourney.
In the history of the Olympic soccer, there was just one draw match in a final. Argentinia - Uruguay was 1-1. They played again and Uruguay won with 2-1.
A strange goal
In 1948 was there in the semi-final a strange goal. The Swedes were all at once in the attack, and if someone should shoot than should the Swedish vanguard Gunnar Nordahl stay offside. So he jumped into the goal (and out the field). Someone shot and Nordahl catched the ball (the Danish goalkeeper laid after a sortie without a chance in the grass, 5 m from the goal).
Incidents here and there
By soccer too there were enough incidents. In 1920 walked the Czechoslovak team away from the field before rest, because they didn't agree with the official (Belgium leaded with 2-0). The match was blown off and Czechoslovakia was disqualified.

Mouth guards worn for Olympic sports, what about chess?
?April is National Facial Protection Month focuses on sports injury prevention than teeth?
Rosemont, IL (April 1, 2002)?Whether or not chess becomes an Olympic (winter or summer) sport, you certainly do not see chess players wearing mouth guards. You do see hockey players, skiers, boxers, wrestlers and other Olympian athletes wearing them. You also see non-Olympians, such as roller bladers, baseball players, skateboarders and soccer players, wearing protective mouth and face gear. What?s the deal?
The boys? parents do not mind paying for orthodontics, which is why they also do not mind paying for mouth guards.
The month of April finds people, children and adults alike, outside playing sports and exercising. Such healthy activities, however, can turn unhealthy when injuries occur. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Association of Orthodontists are sponsoring the third annual ?April is National Facial Protection Month.? Facial protection and injury prevention are the key messages from this ?team? of dental specialists.

Football (soccer) portal Football is a ball game played between two teams of eleven players, each attempting to win by scoring more goals than their opponent. Football is played predominantly with the feet, but players may use any part of their body except their hands and arms to propel the ball; the exceptions to this are the two goalkeepers , who are the only players allowed to handle the ball in the field of play. The sport is also known by other names in some parts of the English -speaking world, usually soccer or association football . These names are often used to distinguish the game from other codes of football , since the word "football" may be used to refer to several quite different games. Football is played at a professional level all over the world, and millions of people regularly go to a football stadium to follow their favourite team, whilst millions more avidly watch the game on television. A very large number of people also play football at an amateur level.
