When you're riding, hiking or skiing Idaho's trails, you won't often see Parks and Recreation staff. We aren't right there when you're having fun on Idaho's lakes and rivers, either. Although the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation stays mostly in the background, our impact on recreation is large. The Recreation Resources Bureau develops and maintains trails and provides facilities statewide for boaters, RV users, cross-country skiers, snowmobilers and off-highway motor vehicle riders. We're able to do that by putting most of the money you pay for registration right back into your favorite recreational activity. A percentage of the gas taxes you pay also helps provide places to play. Parks Recreation About Us Home PO Box 83720 • Boise, ID 83720-0065 • 208-334-4199 •

GENERAL:
A 25” snow pack still remains from Stockholm and New Sweden north and west but it is fading fastdiehards only riding is the picture. Most projects have pulled their markings and there is nothing but dirt in many areas.
NARRATIVE:
Well Mother Nature is beginning to put an end to a very weird winter.......no snow down south, flood warnings in January and 30 inches of snow in March made this winter a challenge for sledders and grooming projects but in the end is wasn’t the worst winter we have had in recent memory. Right now there is still a 25 inch or more snow pack in many areas north of New Sweden and Stockholm but anyone wanting to venture out in the back country should keep in mind that the ice this year is very thick and the recent rain and warm temps have laid a lot of water on lakes, rivers and streams and in low lying areas so you may run into areas that are flooded. Snowmobile clubs and projects are reminded that all field markings and signs should be removed. Remember you just can’t take an ATV out to do sign removal without requesting landowner permission.

Recreational Necessities introduces a steerable snowmobile dolly.
The SURE GRIP TM DOLLY works like a wheel kit, allowing snowmobiles to be easily driven under the snowmobiles own power or with the rear dolly effortlessly rolled by hand.
In outdoor use, SURE GRIP TM allows snowmobiles to be driven under power, away from the showroom floor, where snow conditions are often lacking. SURE GRIPS TM are designed to operate over all kinds of terrain including grass, gravel roads and uneven asphalt and concrete driveways. Quad wheels on each ski, along with SURE GRIP TM safety cable, securely hold dollies in place and prevent sled from slipping off of dollies, even over rough terrain. SURE GRIP TM are also designed for indoor use. For non-powered operation, simply slip the rear swivel track dolly under the track and the snowmobile can easily be steered around the shop and into the tightest places, or maneuvered from side-to-side, eliminating scrathes and scuffs on showroom floors, garages and driveways. SURE GRIP TM DOLLIES feature commercial quality. From the 5" durable rubber wheels with bronze graphite bearings, to the rigid 360° swivel track dolly. Solid steel construction ensures years of trouble free use.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
A snowmobile tour at Yellowstone National Park NPS Photo A snowmobile (or snow scooter , often referred to by enthusiasts as a ' sled' and in the Canadian north as a ' snow machine' ) is a land vehicle propelled by one or two rubber tracks, with skis for steering. They are designed to be operated on snow and ice , and require no road or trail. Most snowmobiles are powered by two-stroke gasoline /petrol internal combustion engines . Even though they are not designed for it, snowmobiles will skim on top of water if the speed is high enough, as demonstrated by the annual snowmobile river drag race in Kautokeino Norway The earliest snowmobiles were modified Ford Model Ts with the undercarriage replaced with tracks and skis. They were popular for rural mail delivery for a time. Polaris Industries in Roseau, Minnesota , in the United States Midwest, was a pioneer in the production of purpose-built snowmobiles. The relatively dry snow conditions of the United States Midwest made the converted model Ts and other like vehicles not suitable for operation in more humid snow areas such as Southern Quebec . This led Joseph-Armand Bombardier of the small town of Valcourt in Quebec
