Mission of the Slovak Cultural Center
The Slovak Cultural Center promotes the following educational and cultural aspects of the Slovak Nation for American Slovaks through the following activities: 1 - Slovak Garden operates a full time library and museum which is open to the public daily, free of charge, from 8:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. This is the only American-Slovak library and museum in the southern part of the United States. 2 - Publishes 1,500 copies of the 12 page quarterly bilingual (Slovak and English) newspaper, "The Floridian Slovak". It informs the American Slovaks of their culture, life in Florida and promotes Slovak music and heritage amongst its residents, One hundred and twenty copies of this newspaper are sent to the Slovak cultural institutions in Slovakia and throughout the world. 3 - A quarterly publication is sent to all members of Slovak Garden informing them of Slovak Garden activities and life in general in Florida. 4 - Since the year 1952, on the first Sunday in March, it sponsors the annual "Slovak Day" on the grounds. There is a varied attendance of 400 to 1200 depending largely on weather conditions in Florida and in other parts of the country. Those in attendance are provided an authentic Slovak Dinner, Slovak music and a cultural program. On this occasion one of the distinguished members or prominent Slovak American figures is honored as the "Slovak Man/Lady of the Year" and awarded a handsome plaque in recognition of his/her life long dedication to Slovak culture and heritage in America. Attendants at the Slovak Day come from all parts of the United States, Canada and Slovakia.

Welcome to our internet information page. The Slovak Cultural Center is located at 3110 Howell Branch Road in Winter Park, Florida 32792. The Slovak Garden Library/Museum was established in 1988 under the direction of Andrew F. Hudak II, President of Slovak Garden, A Home for American Slovaks, the Officers and Board of Directors. The Slovak Garden Library and Museum will be referred to as THE SLOVAK ARCHIVES. It was formally dedicated and opened to the public at the 37th American Slovak Day held at Slovak Garden, on March 5, 1989. The Library and Museum is open to the public daily, from 8:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Monday through Friday. Visits for other days and hours can be arranged by appointment. Admission is free. The Archive is dedicated to the everlasting memory of Slovak Garden founders, Mary Jerga Belohlavek and Karl Belohlavek. Upon seeing the need for a retirement and cultural center for American Slovaks in Florida, Slovak Garden was founded in 1952 by these two dedicated fraternalists. Special thanks are also extended to John and Anna Kucej of Trumbull, Connecticut, The Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union and its President, Cecilia Sarocky, Andrew and Sophia Hudak II of Parma, Ohio and Anna Cibik of Slovak Village in Winter Park, Florida for making the Slovak Garden Archives dream become a reality through their generous financial donations and spirited encouragement.

Vítáme Vás! The Czech and Slovak Music Society is an international organization started in 1987 and dedicated to the serious study and greater understanding of the music of the Czech and Slovak Republics. The Society embraces all musical venues, from 19th-century Czech nationalism to the folk traditions of the Slovak Republic, from 17th-century liturgical music to Je¾ek's Bugatti-Step and all areas between. The Czech and Slovak Music Society E-mail Discussion List provides the opportunity to communicate about issues of mutual interest and main tain contact with other subscribers. The Society's on-line newsletter , published three times per year, contains feature articles, notices of performances, conferences, and other opportunities, as well as the accomplishments and activities of current members.
