Thanks for coming to Figure Skaters for Christ. At what level do you skate? Senior, junior or novice etc...? In what discipline do you skate? Mens, ladies, pairs or ice dance? Or, are you a fan and skate for fun only? Where are you from? Email me and let me know. Thanks. This website, Figure Skaters For Christ was started because I am a Christian and I like figure skating very much. Because I also noticed that not many skaters were saved, I was motivated to create a site for skaters to get to know God and to get to know other skaters that are saved. So, I made the site thinking maybe some skaters will get linked to my site and read the salvation message I have here and accept Jesus into there hearts. It would be great to see more saved skaters like Paul Wylie, R. Todd Reynolds, Shae-Lynn Bourne, Susan Humphry, Jennifer Robinson, Ravi W., Rosalyn Sumners, Janet Lynn, Timothy Goebel, my former coach Kristi Thornton and my new coach Sunni McDonald.

Title: Author: Contact: April's Dance Bernie
Schallehn (Biography/Sports April's Dance America is in love with figure skating! Network TV can't program enough to satisfy a hungry public. Business week recently ranked figure skating as the second highest rated spectator sport. Live shows and competitions continue to break all previous attendance records. And with this popularity comes another desire. The American viewer wants to know- just who are these kings and queens of the ice? Biographies have been written and movies have been produced about some of these athletes. There is one young skater, however, beautiful and courageous individual, both on and off the ice, whose story remains untold... I own the exclusive story rights for premier American ice dancer, April Sargent, and have completed a screenplay capturing the true story of her journey to the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, France. April's Dance is the incredible tale of a young girl's solitary goal, a single-minded dream of one day being chosen to represent the United States in Olympic Competition. In every sense of the word, we are witness to a classic heroine's journey. Leaving home and relocating to an international training center at the tender age of 14, April soon encounters the fierce competitiveness of the multitude of other Olympic hopefuls. In a new environment, with little adult supervision, she is exposed to the habits and behaviors of the older skaters. Firsthand, she observes the darker sides of this beautiful sport.

Athletes As the popularity of the Olympics, Superbowl Weekend, the World Series and Wimbledon demonstrate, Americans are devoted sports fans. This devotion has imprinted itself in popular culture artwork , even household items found in our society. The America's Smithsonian 150th Anniversary exhibition: American Pastimes: Entertainment shows how the Smithsonian's sports collections preserve objects representing sport on all levelsthe ordinary and extraordinary athlete, as well as sports fans and workers. Below are featured spectacular American athletes.

In 1950, Jim Thorpe was named the greatest football player and the greatest male athlete of the first half of the twentieth century, by an Associated Press poll of nearly four-hundred sportswriters. Thorpe excelled not only in collegiate and professional football, but in baseball, track, and a number of other sports. However, his brilliant career as an athlete was punctuated by tragedy and disappointment off the field. Thorpe was born in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) to parents of mixed European and Native American heritage. Glenn S. "Pop" Warner, coach at Pennsylvania's Carlisle Indian Industrial School, where Thorpe became a student at age sixteen, was the first to recognize the young man's natural athletic ability. Though Thorpe primarily concentrated on track and field, he created a sensation on the football field when, as an emergency substitute halfback for Carlisle, he ran two touchdowns in an upset victory over rival University of Pennsylvania.
