Blake Abstract:
The apparatus consists of an oscillating electric motor-generator which has a strong electromagnet surrounding a central core and the magnet is a copper tube which acts as a closed secondary to the core winding. This copper tube is attached to a large diaphragm. When the alternating current passes through the core winding it induces a current in the copper tube, which being free to move, vibrates back and forth, thus setting the diaphragm in vibration. This apparatus is installed in a ship so that the face of the diaphragm is in contact with the water and its vibrations set up sound waves in the water. Signals have been sent a distance of 31 miles. The oscillator can also be used as a receiver. Sound waves striking against diaphragm cause the copper tube to vibrate, thereby generating a current in itself which is induced in the core winding. A telephone receiver in the armature circuit enables the observer to hear the sound.

Submarines
By Abbie The Mechanism of a Submarine Submarines can operate underwater without any electricity to make them sink to the bottom and rise to the surface of the water. A submarine has large tanks called ballast tanks onboard that control how deep the submarine sinks or how high it rises. To sink, the tanks fill with water. A large the amount of water in the ballast tank causes the submarine to sink. Less water in the tanks cause it to sink less. To raise the submarine, the water is released from the ballast tanks and compressed air (that is kept onboard in flasks) is let into the ballast tanks. The more compressed air that is added the more the submarine rises. If a lower the amount of compressed air is pumped into the tank, the sub will not rise as much. Carbon dioxide must be released from the submarines because it rises and becomes a toxin. There must also be a balanced amount of oxygen for the crew onboard to breathe! Why were submarines built?

Nearly ten years after its formation, the Military Sea transportation With this large a force, MSTS immediately set out to lay up ships no longer needed
http://www.usmm.org/msts/special.html
Special Missions of Military Sea Transportation Service and Military Sealift Command By Salvatore R. Mercogliano High in orbit, two of America's leading astronauts were gripped in a life-or-death struggle. A stuck thruster valve hurled their spacecraft into an unexpected tumble and they needed to make contact with NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) flight control. If their spiral continued, they faced the possibility of blacking out due to the G-forces and plummeting to their deaths in an uncontrolled re-entry through the atmosphere. In the Philippine Sea, the range instrumentation ship USNS Coastal Sentry served as an at-sea surrogate for NASA flight control. On board, in addition to its crew of merchant mariners, NASA and Air Force technicians tracked the craft in its voyage. Manning the capsule command (Capcom) seat, James R. Fucci made contact with the spacecraft. The astronauts reported serious problems and they could not control the ship. Fucci maintained communications with the astronauts while they shut down their thruster controls and switched to the reentry control system, thereby regaining command of their ship. With their reentry system activated, the Capcom relayed immediate instructions to make an emergency splashdown. The USNS Coastal Sentry, along with the USNS Rose Knot demonstrated the flexibility of mobile seaborne communication systems to NASA and the two astronauts.

All States have the right to exercise freedom of navigation on the high seas and in the exclusive economic zone, and the rights of innocent passage in the territorial sea, transit passage in straits used for international navigation, and archipelagic sea lanes passage in archipelagic sea lanes. This is a sampling of the upper concepts dealing with transportation, vehicles, etc. There are many more-specific concepts and relations than those shown here. A large number of specialized types of vehicles are omitted here.
#$TransportationEvent transported A specialization of both #$Conveying-Generic and #$Translation-Complete, instances of which are events in which one or more objects transport one or more other objects. Each instance of #$TransportationEvent is an event in which an object (in the role of #$transporter) aids in the translational movement of another object (having the role of #$transportees), so that both objects move together along the same complete pathway (see #$motionPathway-Complete). Optionally, one of these objects, or some third object moving along with them, provides the force to make the movement happen (see #$providerOfMotiveForce).

Japan Maritime Self Defence Force
Nihon Kaijyo Jieitai
The large volume of coastal commercial fishing and maritime traffic limits in-service sea training, especially in the relatively shallow waters required for mine laying, mine sweeping, and submarine rescue practice. Training days are scheduled around slack fishing seasons in winter and summerproviding about ten days during the year. The MSDF maintains two oceangoing training ships and conducted annual long-distance on-the-job training for graduates of the one-year officer candidate school. When two North Korean spy boats were later discovered in Japanese territorial waters, Japanese Naval Forces fired their guns in anger for the first time in 54 years. Japan’s sensitivity to spy infiltrations and abductions are driving Tokyo’s probe. With some evidence indicating the ship is from North Korea; Tokyo will have to weigh the merits of raising the ship against the economic cost and the political fallout from Pyongyang that may follow. Beijing’s willingness to allow the recent probe probably indicates that it will also approve a salvage operation should Tokyo decide to attempt one. Moreover, it may also indicate that Beijing has no connection with the ship’s activities or doubts that any connection can be drawn. Should Tokyo receive permission and decide to conduct the salvage, look for North Korea to protest and threaten to cancel future talks.

Whether to raise the Japanese
fishing vessel, sunk by a U.S. sub Feb. 9, is yet to be decided
By Gregg K. Kakesako Star-Bulletin The Navy has located a sunken Japanese fishing vessel sitting upright in 2,003 feet of water. Jon Yoshishige, Pacific Fleet spokesman, said the deep-sea robot Scorpio II located the 190-foot Ehime Maru at 11:25 last night. It was found about 1,000 yards from the site where it was hit by a U.S. submarine. Yoshishige said video cameras on the Scorpio positively identified the vessel by reading its name off of the boat's stern plate. As of yet, no remains have been found. Yoshishige said the Scorpio will continue to search the area today "to gather more data." Information gathered by the Scorpio will help the Navy determine whether the 499-ton Ehime Maru can be refloated to the surface, Yoshishige said.

What is Marine Technology?
Marine technology is the application of science and engineering knowledge, tools, and techniques to the understanding and use of the marine environment. Its scope is much wider than just the marine environment, however, because the ocean's impacts extend throughout the global environment. Overview of the Branches of Marine Technology
Marine technology deals directly with the marine environment but, by its very nature, has global implications as well. It is a broad field with many branches, and it intersects widely with other branches of technology, such as environmental management, resource extraction, transportation, construction, communication, and recreation. The 6 major branches of marine technology are:
  • Resource extraction activities Transportation activities Military activities Exploration and research activities Human-environment interface activities Multi-purpose activities
