Welcome to Sharks.com
Sharks.com is a Site Dedicated to Sharks.
Sharks over the Years have had a bad rap for being blood thirsty creatures that will attack and kill anything in their path. Movies like Jaws and Shark Attack are big contributors to this. However , with a little reasearch you will find out that Sharks are not what most people might think. Shark attacks that accur are for the most part a mistaken identity by the shark ... it thinks you are a seal or one of its natural prey. Or if a shark is teased it will become aggressive and may attack. Its been shown that when people are at the beach swimming , there are sharks around ... but the fact is they just dont care. If they were these blood thirsty creatures there made out to be , there would be fatal attacks every day. Sharks are one of the most Interesting creatures on this planet. Also for something not as big , shark teeth are just as good which include modern shark teeth of Great White shark, mako shark, tiger shark , white shark teeth and more. Plus Fossil shark teeth of Extinct sharks like the Biggest Shark to ever Live the Megalodon Shark. Having a Shark Tooth of a Megalodon is a Must for any Shark Fan! Shark Cage Diving is another Great Section.

Sharks have a skeleton composed of cartilage rather than bone. Only their jaws are calcified. Cartilage is an ideal tissue for the shark skeleton because it is lighter than bone, which is important for sharks do not have a swim bladder.

Sharks are a type of fish.
Sharks are amazing fish that have been around since long before the dinosaurs existed. They live in waters all over the world, in every ocean, and even in some rivers and lakes. Marine species conservation
Under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, Australia has rights and responsibilities over 16 million square kilometres of ocean - more than twice the area of the Australian continent. Within this area live thousands of marine species, some of which are unique to Australia and all of which contribute to making Australia the most biodiversity rich developed country. The Australian Government uses the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) to protect and manage threatened, migratory and marine species. Threatened species are listed under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 . Threatened marine species conservation and management involves:
  • Determining the threats faced by marine species;

Introduction to Sharks "Are you going in there with that shark Harriet?". "Yes Heming, I need to collect some important data.
Do you want to help me?" "No Harriet I don't know how to swim." Out of all the species walking, flying, slithering or swimming, there aren't many who have been around as long, survived as well, or come in so many shapes and kinds as the shark. The earliest evidences of sharks are isolated spines, teeth and scales that appeared about 430 million years ago in the Silurian Period, known as the "Age of Fishes". Sharks have a sleek, streamlined design which helps them swim without using up a lot of energy.They certainly need to conserve their energy because they never really sleep and most of them never stop swimming. Some sharks are fierce predators, and would be happy to eat you if they encountered you. Almost any shark six feet or longer is a potential danger, but three species have been identified repeatedly in attacks: the Great White Shark, the Tiger Shark and the Bull Shark . All three live world wide, reach large sizes and eat large prey such as marine mammals or sea turtles. But most sharks never grow longer than five feet and never even see anyone with legs and arms anyway. People kill thousands more sharks every year than sharks kill people.
