September 25, 2005 Sex Therapy More Sex Return to Sex Therapy Sex therapy involves the therapeutic treatment of sexual disorders such as impotence, premature ejaculation, retarded ejaculation, hypoactive sexual desire, painful coitus, and orgasmic disorders. These problems, while not subjects of polite conversation until relatively recently, have been found to be extremely common, and further, to be sources of considerable emotional distress and interpersonal conflict in relationships. Masters and Johnson, pioneers in the sex therapy field, have stated that at one time or another half of all marriages have significant sexual problems. Other studies have suggested that at some point in their lives 10 percent of women are anorgasmic, 7 percent of men are impotent, and 18 percent of men suffer from premature or retarded ejaculation. Sex Therapy for Inhibited Sexual Desire
This condition is characterized by loss of interest in sex, is thought to trouble one in five adult women during their lives. Additionally, surveys of married couples find that over half complain of encountering interferences that block their full enjoyment of sex. While universally emphasizing correcting sexual misinformation, the importance of improved partner communication and honesty, anxiety reduction (including fear of performance failure), sensual experience and pleasure, and interpersonal tolerance and acceptance, sex therapy includes three different levels of intervention to address the various sexual problems mentioned above, depending on the nature and causes of the problem involved.

We will review possible prosexual treatments and will attempt to explain responsible psychophysiological and behavioral mechanisms, to eventually arrive at relevant insight into the workings of the drugs. We begin with a description of what is known about women's sexual disorders and the psychophysiology of women's sexual response. We will briefly consider subjective experience and relevant physiological changes in the domains of behavior, cognition, and emotion, with specific attention to sexuality. This will function as a background for a sketch of drug effects on hypoactive sexual desire, arousal disorders, and inhibited orgasm.

Oriental Medicine and Male Sexual Disorders
Oriental Medicine To Improve Your Sex Life.
Throughout Chinese history its society has been dominated by men. As this is an unfortunate reality it has also lead Chinese Medicine to be able to focus its medical knowledge on treating men's health and longevity. As far back as the Yellow Emperor's reign many classical texts were devoted to increasing men's sexual performance and health. Although centuries have past since the Yellow Emperor began inquiring about health and wellness, men today still look for various ways to stay healthy sexually. Sexual health is not the only concern for men today. As men age they begin battling with various other male disorders. Aside from impotence, men also suffer from conditions affecting urination, the prostate and testicles.

Summary
Learning of one’s infertility can often generate depression and lack of sexual desire. Work-ups and treatments can interfere with the couple’s intimacy, and the body image of each partner. Sometimes the final arrival of a child cannot completely repair felt psychological failure.
Introduction
Infertile couples need special psychological care not only because of the pain of not having a child, but also to bear the tests and treatments (2,4,5,6,7,8) which can have a hard psychological impact. Infertility can threaten adult status and sexual identity. It can generate a reshuffle of personality; couple bonds may also change. Achieving a pregnancy becomes the sole aim for the couple and the medical team. But in fact, psychosomatic disorders may disturb the pregnancy, when the couple is looking for an imaginary child, to resolve other problems. The real child may then generate an additional adaptation in the couple that is still deeply disturbed by the infertility.
The diagnosis of infertility: psychological aspects
Infertility investigation
The diagnosis of infertility
The revelation of sterility disrupts the individual’s life course, as well as that of the couple and of the family. The break in filiation can be experienced as a kind of death. One of the components of love in a couple is the ability to imagine the partner as a potential parent. This is one reason why infertile couples are obliged to cross a crisis period. In most cases, the partners stay together and achieve a new balance. In some cases, however, they decide to divorce and this can occur during an achieved pregnancy or after the birth of a child.

Description
Sexual disorders may arise from multiple causes. Their clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment must take into account the patient's underlying biology, history, and behaviors. Using an approach pioneered at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, Peter Fagan applies the four "perspectives of psychiatry" (disease, dimension, behavior, and life story) to the diagnosis and treatment of sexual disorders. This book offers therapists an efficient and clinically proven way to organize the range of theoretical methodologies currently available, presenting a framework that is both conceptually cohesive and readily applicable in clinical settings. After an introduction, each chapter offers a case study followed by an analysis based on one perspective methodology as well as a discussion of the clinical implications of that perspective. The book closes with a chapter integrating the approaches. This book will be of interest to mental health care professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, who treat patients with sexual disorders.

Sexuality Dr. C. George Boeree Ah, sex. Freud, and many others, felt that sex was the most significant motivator in human life. It's interesting that you die without food in a few weeks, without water in a few days, and without air in a few minutes. You will not die without sex (although you may want to). And yet, in the biological scheme of things, it is reproduction, not individual survival, that counts. Animals, including us humans, are supplied with powerful instincts that urge them on to having sex, sometimes at the cost of their own lives! The science of sex only dates back about a century. The first major figure is Richard von Krafft-Ebing , who studied sexual "deviations" in the late 1800's. He popularized the term homosexuality, and fought to decriminalize it. On the negative side, he was convinced that women who have strong sexual appetites are quite abnormal. Another early figure is Henry Havelock Ellis , who looked into the social aspects of sexuality in the late 1800's and early 1900's. He is a hero to both the homosexual community and the feminist movement. He insisted that homosexuality was both inborn and irreversible, a notion some people still can't seem to accept. And he had the audacity to suggest that women have the similar sexual needs and desires as men! Margaret Sanger referred to him as "Olympian!" Beginning in the 1930's, a Harvard entomologist name

"While women are often able to continue sexual activity immediately after orgasm, most men require at least some recovery time. As the commercials show, washing one's hair with Herbal Essence brings the fun and action of a wild no-holes-barred gangbang to the average housewife," says Dr. Richard E. Recht, "but few men can handle such overstimulation without rapid ejaculation." "Herbal essence is like getting a massage from a group of shaved, lean pretty boys. We have found no way to mitigate the effect. Some doctors suggest thinking about baseball or dentistry." Related Stories Sex No Substitute for Wild Sex Say Relationship Experts
