About Us
L. S. University Products Discounts ... Quilting General Sewing Home Dec General Sewing Q: My iron is sticky from ironing on fusible webs, how do I clean it? A: One way is to get a paper bag and a dryer sheet, get your iron hot put your brown paper bag down on your ironing board, lay the dryer sheet on top of the bag and iron away. Not only will your room smell good but your iron will be all clean and smooth again. You must use a bag as the base or your ironing board cover will be ready for the trash. Q: I never change my needle until it breaks, why should I do it sooner? A: Many reasons come to mind, the first that I can think of is your stitch quality really suffers when your needle gets dull, second if you are sewing with a dull needle you will most likely get stitches that skip, many times a machine will come in for skipping stitches and if we put in a new needle that problem will be solved. Another reason would be that you can do damage to your throat plate or bobbin case, neither of which are covered by warranty, its much cheaper to replace your needle than to have to by either a new plate or bobbin case. Q: When I take my sewing machine to class what is the best way to transport it?

General information: Quilting and Sewing Quilts are celebrations of color. To love quilting is to love color, and as quilters know so well the love of color translates into the love of fabric. Perhaps, like many quilters, you've found yourself leaving the fabric store with enough fabric for your current project as well as several future projects tucked in for good measure. So much fabric that you've had to find creative places to hide ... woops ... store them. With so many beautiful fabrics, in every conceivable color who can resist? After all, the pink you found today will be perfect with the green you found last week. Today, more than ever, quilters have reason to celebrate. There are plenty of resources, thousands of patterns past and present as well as wonderful tools developed to provide quilters with faster, easier techniques for quilting by hand or machine. So, whether beginning a simple project to learn the basics or using polished skills to create an intricate heirloom piece, decide on a pattern, choose your fabric ... get ready, set, celebrate!

"Seams and Pleaters"
by Betty My preference is tiny French seams for bishop sleeves, but any type of seam will slide through the pleater with ease. This is shown from the back of the pleater: Slip the seam into a grove of the pleater with a screwdriver or a finger nail, etc. The seam will not hit a needle , nor will it show from the top side.
