Seventh-day Adventism RENOUNCED
by D. M. Canright
I recently learned that the version of the book, Seventh-day Adventism RENOUNCED , which I previously put online for you to download was not the entire book, not even close! That previous version online was only 7 chapters and 72 pages. The original has 22 chapters and 400+ pages! I now have this complete version. As of today, July 10, 1997 , I have the entire book online for you to download, including a short testimony from Canright called "My Present Standing". I may enhance the on screen appearance of the chapters with an HTML format now that they are all scanned, proofed and online. The demand has been overwhelming and this is why I am saving the HTML formatting enhancements for later. Give me some feedback. Send e-mail to: billtod@airmail.net

Why a history of Adventism in Minnesota? Perhaps no finer reason than this: "We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history."
(Life Sketches of Ellen G. White, p. 96). History affirms our successes and
reminds us of our failures. Not understanding our failures dooms us to
repeat them. Failure to understand the past limits our vision for the future.
In these pages the history of Minnesota Adventism is painted upon the backdrop of the history of Minnesota. Such a perspective helps us understand the challenges facing our pioneers. Through this understanding we gain inspiration and courage to face what challenges us as Advent believers in the twenty-first century. The two Preambles tie Adventism in
Minnesota to Adventist history in general. Thus we are reminded that we are part of a larger historic movement. Part I deals with the beginnings of Adventism in Minnesota, against the backdrop of the historic settling of the state. In Part II we read of the rise of Adventist institutions in Minnesota. Part III consists of historic documents shedding additional light on our history, as well as documenting current events within the

Adventist Community Services." more Adventist Community Services Disaster Response Hurricane Katrina Long-Term Recovery Community Development Project This project is a partnership between Adventist Community Services (ACS), Maranatha Volunteers International and Adventist-Laymen's Services and Industries (ASI). The purpose of this project is to follow Christ's model and commission to evangelize the community. E.G. White says, "Christ's method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, 'Follow Me.'" This project is to identify Seventh-day Adventist Churches and their communities that have suffered great damage by Hurricane Katrina and need to rebuild but cannot due to the lack of financial resources and insurance coverage. The scope of the redevelopment will include reconstruction for the church and immediate surrounding areas in the community of where the church is located.
The collaboration will entail Maranatha managing the building and construction operations, ASI administrating the clearinghouse for the financial allocations and logistical coordination and ACS providing technical assistance in identifying reconstruction projects and soliciting

70. LLUAHSC - Seventh-day Adventist History
About seventhday adventists - Loma Linda University - Southern California.
http://www.llu.edu/info/SDAhist.html

About Seventh-day Adventists The colorful history of the Seventh-day Adventist Church began as a result of close study of Bible prophecies around the mid-nineteenth century. People of many persuasions came to believe that the second coming, or advent, of Christ was imminent.
When Christ did not come at that time, a group of Adventists in New England, continuing their study of prophecy, concluded that the time period was right but the event anticipated was the beginning of the final judgment in heaven rather than the second coming of Christ, which was still in the future. This same group accepted the teaching of the seventh-day Sabbath, and became known as Seventh-day Adventists. The church organized formally in 1863.
Basing its faith on the Bible, the church today is a closely-knit, worldwide organization with a membership of more than 13.5 million believers. The church sent its first missionary, J. N. Andrews, abroad in 1874, and today conducts evangelistic endeavors in more than 208 nations, in more than 700 languages.
The church operates one of the largest Protestant educational systems in the world, with more than 5,700 schools, including 86 colleges and 15 universities.
