Kansas City scottish country dancers website. Information on Lessons, Workshops, Balls and more!
http://www.kcscottishdancers.com/
an affiliate of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society
The Kansas City Scottish Country Dancers is an organization whose members share an interest in Scottish Country dance and music.
Country dance usually involves a "set" - a group of four to eight people - dancing a series of formations to the driving strains of reels, jigs, and strathspeys played on the fiddle, accordian, piano and/or bagpipes.
So long as there's a good rousing tune or two, good company, and an excuse to dance, there will always be Scots handy with their feet. But you don't have to be a Scot to find your foot tapping to the irresistible rhythms or to be captivated by a style of dance that is above all happy, lively, and sociable.
Join us! You certainly won't be left sitting on the sidelines. Come dance with the Kansas City Scottish Country Dancers!

The Society was established in 1923 by its co-founders to protect and promote the standards of Scottish country dancing. Today we are an International organisation catering to the needs of over 21,000 members. Through the network of local branches , the Society offers opportunities to learn and practise the country dances of Scotland. There are many classes, at all levels, and a great variety of social dances. For members wishing to improve their technique there are workshops and day schools as well as the Society's own Schools - Summer School in St Andrews, Scotland and Winter School in Pitlochry, Scotland. For the experienced dancer wishing to obtain additional training there are opportunities for members to attend training courses. Music is of course essential to the occasion and we also provide specialist courses for accordion, fiddle and piano. There is more information about the Society and Scottish Country Dancing available here . Members are invited to browse the members' area - the username and password are available from your branch secretary.
