Wolffe; Solicitor to the Scottish Executive 31 July 2002 Introduction [2] The Protection of Wild Mammals (Scotland) Act 2002 ("the Protection of Wild Mammals Act") was passed by the Scottish Parliament on 13 February 2002 and received the Royal Assent on 15 March 2002. One of the principal effects of the Act is to make it a criminal offence to engage in the activity of mounted foxhunting with dogs, or to permit land or dogs to be used for this activity. By section 12(2) of the Act the preceding sections are to come into force on such day as the Scottish Ministers may by order made by statutory instrument appoint. By the Protection of Wild Mammals (Scotland) Act 2002 (Commencement) Order 2002 ("the Commencement Order"), made by the Scottish Ministers in the exercise of these powers, the day appointed for the coming into force of the Act is 1 August 2002. et separatim certain provisions of it are, incompatible with Articles 8 and/or 14 of, and/or Article 1 of the First Protocol to, the European Convention on Human Rights ("the Convention"). ArmyScottish regiments; ScotlandHistory, Military; Scottish mercenaries; Individual regimental, divisional, or company name in the Commonwealth countries History The collection of military and regimental histories predates the university in that there was a reasonable collection of material in the Ontario Agricultural College Library. This was expanded with the beginning of the Scottish studies programmes in 1965. Description Material on all aspects of Scottish military and regimental history is collected. Of particular significance is the attempt to gather histories of Scottish regiments in any Commonwealth country. Although Canada predominates in this respect, New Zealand, Australia and others are represented. Language English predominates, but material in any language is collected if obtainable. Holdings 225 monographs, serials, music, maps, documents, and archives are included in the collection; of these 55 items are in the Rare Book Collection and 25 linear cm in the archives. Bibliographic Access All titles are catalogued or coded. Access is via the On-Line Public Access Catalogue or the CD-ROM catalogue. LC classification is used. Government documents are coded in the CODOC system. The archival collections are coded in an adaptation of the cataloguing and coding system.
