Situation in Scotland
Scotland has a different education system and different arrangements apply. However, the units that make up the qualifications were developed so that they can be used in Scotland. The Scottish Qualifications Authority is in the process of developing Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) that will be known as SVQs for Classroom Assistants. With the exception of a different title, these qualifications will have the same structure and content as the NVQs . We expect the SVQs to be approved in September 2002. ... Gimme All Your Lovin' Welcome to Almondnet Almondnet has been designed to be a source of information for 80's music fans. Here you can find data on perhaps the greatest and most original music era of pop and rock, including a selection of Top 10's and info on definitive artistes and their lyrics. The 80's launched the careers of Madonna, George Michael, U2, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson who continue their global success to this day, solidifying their names into the music hall of fame. The 80's also introduced us to the world's first girl bands in Bananrama and The Bangles as well as taking the first steps towards producing groundbreaking music videos such as a-ha's "Take on me". However, the one thing that stands out from the 80's is the pop-synth sounds of bands such as Eurythmics, Soft Cell and OMD, who perhaps didn't have the longevity of the aforementioned but who left us with lasting memories of their highly original music that lingers in our record collections and occasionally pops up as a remix to this day.

Local Government
in Scotland In June 2004, the Scottish Parliament passed the Local Governance (Scotland) Bill, to introduce STV in multi-member wards for the Scottish local elections due in 2007. The passage of the Bill followed on a commitment in the Partnership Agreement between the Labour Party and the Liberal Democrats when they (re)formed a coalition following the May 2003 Scottish Parliament elections.
As the Bill became law as the Local Governance (Scotland) Act , the Scottish Executive instructed the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland (LGBCS) to conduct a ward boundary review. The Commission's initial proposals were set out in March 2005, with further provisional proposals being released in the months since.
Wards will return either three or four councillors. There will be no changes in the boundaries of the 32 local government areas or in the numbers of councillors elected to each Council. In the initial stages of the review, the LGBCS have consulted with Councils, as prescribed in the Act. The Commission is inviting representations on all its proposals via its website.
The Electoral Reform Society continues to work with Fairshare for the successful implementation of the new system for 2007. Fairshare is a cross-party campaign originally established with the aim of securing a decision by the Scottish Parliament to implement the Single Transferable Vote.

It will link to records management guidance and, for bodies which transmit records to NAS, will provide information about what records NAS holds and what to do if you need to consult records which your organisation has already transmitted to us. Under the 1937 Public Records (Scotland) Act , the Keeper of the Records of Scotland is able to select Scottish government records for transmission to the NAS for permanent preservation. This is achieved by working closely with the Scottish Executive's Records Management Branch under the terms of a Service Level Agreement. The records sent to NAS are catalogued and made available to the public, subject to the closure guidelines set out in the Government White Paper

Touring the Battlefield On 16 April 1746 the last battle to be fought on British soil took less than an hour to reach its bloody conclusion here on what is now know as Culloden Moor. It was not, as often portrayed, a battle between the Scots and the English: in reality the Scots on the Government side outnumbered those fighting for the Jacobites. Rather it was the last chapter in a sporadic civil war for succession to the throne that had been under way since 1688 (see our Historical Timeline 1688 was the year in which King James VII of Scotland and II of England was deposed in favour of William of Orange by a Protestant nobility fearful he was starting a Catholic dynasty. Efforts to restore the Jacobites to the throne had subsequently led to conflict in 1689, 1708, 1715, and in 1719 when Spanish troops landed in Glen Shiel.
