Welcome to the Church of Scientology of Central Ohio
Scientology Founder, L. Ron Hubbard, stated: Do you ever get fed up with the scandal, death and destruction that dominates the news? Do you wish you could DO something about it? Something that would really HELP? When Scientologist Lorraine Baritz of Boston was called to the hospital by friends whose 13-year-old son was in a coma and on life-support four days after a severe motorcycle accident, she knew exactly what she had to do to help. News of the recovery traveled through the hospital, reaching others standing vigil by their own children. A couple with an infant son in a coma asked for help. Again Lorraine answered the call. The outcome was reported in the local Boston newspaper: Stories like these are commonplace, anything but common in a world where people are searching for answers on how to provide real and lasting help to others.

Munksgaard, 1997. 84 sider / Gyldendal, 1997.148 sider.

On one expedition, he made the first mineralogical survey of Puerto Rico. During the 1930's, he became a famous author. Although he was known mostly for his science fiction, he also worked in other genres including mystery, western and adventure. He was also successful as a screen writer. His lifetime output of published fiction was over 200 novels, novelettes and short stories. In 1938, in an unpublished manuscript

A couple years back, I was riding in a Clearwater cab. I was on my way to a candlelight vigil in memory of a woman who died a tragic death after being held against her will for 17 days in the Fort Harrison Hotel. The cab driver was very curious about Scientology and asked a lot of questions. At one point he asked if there was any connection to Satanism. I gave him a little background about Hubbard and Jack Parsons and their attempts to create the Moonchild. This driver, who had been so interested in Scientology, suddenly said, "Oh c'mon! You're just making this up to make Hubbard look bad." This driver hadn't heard Hubbard in his own voice praising his "good friend, Aleister Crowley." He hadn't seen any documentation or heard Scientology's silly cover story (repeated on the A&E two hour documentary) that Hubbard had been sent in to "break-up" this Satanic cult. The story was just too unbelievable to be true. This unfortunately is one of the main flaws with the movie "The Profit." Although many of the events in the life of the fictional L.

  • Belief in Deity: Belief in Deity: Scientology considers the belief in a God or gods as something personal and therefore offers no specific dogma. The nature of the Supreme Being is revealed personally through each individual as s/he becomes more conscious and spiritually aware. There exists a life energy or force (Theta) beyond and within all.
  • Incarnations: There are no particular human incarnations of God as the universal life force (Theta) is inherent in all. All humans are immortal spiritual beings (thetans) capable of realizing a nearly godlike state through Scientology practices.
  • Origin of universe/life: All is manifestation of the universal spirit, which is all that actually exists.
  • After death: Rebirths continue until one consciously confronts all pre-birth, current life, and previous life traumas and realizes one's true nature as a "thetan," immortal spirit transcending matter, energy, space, and time. Achieving this state enables the spirit to escape the cycle of birth and death, to operate independently of the physical universe, and become one with God.

    Clergy Corner: Scientology
Scientology Gives Believers a Map on the Road to Self-fulfillment
by Cathy Norman L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, once wrote: "When a culture has fallen totally away from spiritual pursuits into materialism, one must begin by demonstrating they are each a soul, not a material animal. From this realization of their own religious nature, individuals can again come to an awareness of God and become more themselves." In Scientology, we have no dogma about God. Nor do we ask you to take our teachings on faith. Instead, we start by showing you things about your spiritual nature, yourself, others and the world around you. From there you begin your road to truth and relationship with the Ultimate. At an early age, Hubbard began to search for a means by which man could discover his true nature and realize his potential. For more than 30 years, he consulted the great religious works of the East and Greece and Rome, the philosophical works of Hegel and Kant, the psychological theories of Sigmund Freud, and the physical sciences. He also examined the beliefs and rites of primitive cultures, primarily firsthand. In May 1950, Hubbard published his initial findings in

UN asks Germany to explain Scientology stand

Film star John Travolta, who has taken part in the campaign against Germany's policies The United Nations special rapporteur on religion has asked Germany to make clear why it has placed the Church of Scientology under surveillance. The rapporteur rejected allegations by the Scientologists that Germany's attitude towards them is reminiscent of the Nazis. But in a report to the UN Human Rights Commission he warned that the emotional debate about new religious movements may lead to prejudice, and asked Germany to begin a campaign against religious intolerance. The German authorities say surveillance of Scientologists is necessary because of what they call the movement's anti-democratic activities. Celebrity members of the church, such as John Travolta and Tom Cruise, have backed the campaign against Germany's policy.

    About Scientology
By Times Staff Writer Published July 18, 2004 SCIENTOLOGY POSITIONS Gay marriage Scientologists recognize marriage as a part of the second of eight dynamics of existence. The second dynamic includes all creative activity, including sex, procreation and child rearing. The Scientology marriage ceremony is traditional and addresses a union between a man and a woman. Abortion As described in Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health , abortion and attempted abortion can traumatize the mother and unborn child physically and spiritually. Abortion is therefore rare among Scientologists, recognizing that even the fetus may have already been occupied by a spiritual being. In some instances, abortion might be chosen of health concerns of the mother or other personal factors. Birth control Procreation and child rearing are considered part of one of the eight dynamics of existence. Couples are free to decide the size of their families, and do so by determining the greatest good across the dynamics. Personal and social circumstances, profession and income are part of this decision, as with members of any faith.

    Email: steve.kent@ualberta.ca Abstract
This article critically examines the allegations of religious intolerance that United States officials and governmental staff have leveled against France and Germany (along with other European countries) for their policies on, and actions toward, Scientology and other controversial groups. It argues that American officials appear to be poorly informed about the bases for the Europeans' critical positions, and that those officials have been the recipients of selective information provided by Scientology itself along with Scientology's supporters. It concludes by offering a preliminary analysis of this Euro-American debate in the context of 'international social movements' theory within the social sciences. Notice

RON HUBBARD The founder of Scientology was born in Tilden, Neb., on March 13, 1911, Lafayette Ronald Hubbard. According to church biographies, Hubbard traveled extensively through Asia as a teenager and studied Eastern religions and philosophies. He later served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II and went on to become a prolific and popular science fiction writer. However, he is best known for his book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, which was published in May 1950 and became a nationwide bestseller. His writings on Dianetics and Scientology inspired Scientologists to form the first Church of Scientology in Los Angeles in 1954. He also wrote on the subjects of education, business management, drug rehabilitation, morals and art. Hubbard died of a stroke on Jan. 24, 1986, at a central California ranch where he had been living in seclusion for several years.

What is now the Church of Scientology began as small groups of people gathered to do Dianetics counseling. To this day, the growing edge of Scientology is still found in small Dianetic counseling groups and missions where field auditors introduce people to Scientology and offer basic counseling. Missions, more formally organized than the counseling groups, assist people who are ready to start up the bridge and encourage them to continue their efforts at the nearest local Church of Scientology. Where no groups or missions are readily available, individual field auditors may operate alone. The church supports its field auditors directly through the International Hubbard Ecclesiastical League of Pastors (IHELP), and the missions through Scientology Missions International Local churches are prepared to assist members with both the counseling ( auditing ) and class work that will allow them to reach the state of Clear . They are also the major focus of the church's interaction with the community as they motivate members to become involved in the church's
