Saskatchewan Publishers Group
The Saskatchewan Publishers Group is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting Saskatchewan book publishers and promoting Saskatchewan-published resources. SPG members qualify for funding through the Saskatchewan Cultural Industries Development Fund Register now for the 2005 Professional Development Sessions . Thursday and Friday, September 22 and 23 in Regina, join us for discussions about the history of publishing in Saskatchewan, a "Publishing 101" session, and a session on how consumers choose books, to highlight some of the events. Guest presenters include Brian Mlazgar from the Canadian Plains Research Center, Robin Karpan from Parkland Publishing, Geoff Bjorgan from Regina's largest independent bookstore, the , Claire Isaac, Children's Collection co-ordinator with the Regina Public Library, David Quelch from Chapters Regina, Nicole DeGrandmont from the Book Publishing Industry Development Program, and Mary Sutherland from the University of Regina Bookstore. Thursday night's Centennial Celebration features a special display of Saskatchewan Published books and speakers Bernadette Wagner, Ken Mitchell, and Anne Pennylegion. SEP 23/05 - UNIVERSITY AUTONOMY RECOGNIZED IN GOVERNANCE CHANGES

Today, Learning Minister Andrew Thomson announced a change in the governance structures of the province's universities that will more accurately reflect existing relationships between government and the universities. This fall, legislation will be introduced to reduce the number of government-appointed board members by one, thereby allowing the universities to appoint a majority of members.
