81. Barbecued Beef Sandwiches
Shredded beef cooked in a dutch oven with cabbage and sauce, served on buns.
Barbecued Beef Sandwiches Recipe By : Denise Marshall - Florida
Servings : 10 2 pounds beef stew meat
2 cups water
4 cups cabbage shredded
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1/2 cup catsup
1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
10 hamburger buns In a covered Dutch oven or saucepan, simmer beef in water for 1 1/2 hours or until tender. Drain cooking liquid, reserving 3/4 cup. Cool beef; shred and return to Dutch oven. Add cabbage, barbecue sauce, catsup, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, mustard and the reserved cooking liquid. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Serve on buns.

    DOSSIER DU MOIS DE AOUT 2001 LES SANDWICHS Pour le mois d'août, nous vous proposons des recettes pour réaliser vos sandwichs, que vous pourrez emportez avec vous partout, sur la plage, à la montagne, ou simplement pour combler une petite faim. Sandwich à la dinde et au bacon Pain bagnat à la niçoise Bagel au rosbif Pains farcis à la remoulade de poulet Sandwich à la dinde et au bacon
    (Pour 4 personnes - Préparation : 20 min - Cuisson : 20 min)
    Ingrédients : 400 g de blanc de dinde en un seul morceau - 12 tranches de pain de mie - 4 tomates - 3 c. à soupe de coulis de tomates - 8 tranches de bacon - 16 feuilles de laitue - 0,5 c. à café de d'épices mexicaines pour chili (type Old el Paso) - 1 gousse d'ail - 50 cl de bouillon de volaille - sel et poivre.
    Faites pocher 20 min à frémissement le blanc de dinde dans le bouillon de volaille. Egouttez la viande, laissez-la refroidir, puis tranchez-la finement avec un couteau bien aiguisé. Taillez les tomates en rondelles, lavez et séchez la laitue. Pelez, dégermez et hachez l'ail.

    Barbecued Seitan Sandwiches This recipe is from Heather Meredith who says "I fed this to my meat-loving boyfriend and now he actually requests it. He says the seitan so closely resembles the texture of beef or pork that he didn't care what it was!! "
    • 1 package of seitan barbecue sauce (use as much as you want-I like 'em sloppy) 1/4 cup diced onions 1/4 cup of shredded carrot 1 tblsp olive oil 2 cloves of diced garlic (more if you love it-I sure do)
    Heat the olive oil in a pan; add onions and carrots and garlic, saute until soft. Add seitan and saute until hot. Add barbecue sauce (I LOVE KC Masterpiece original) and heat until the sauce is hot, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and serve on buns. Return to Recipes

    Pineapple Nut Tea Sandwiches
    2 cups crushed pineapple, drained 1 cup sugar 1 cup chopped nuts One 8-ounce package cream cheese milk or mayonnaise
    In saucepan combine pineapple and sugar. Bring to boil. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Cool. Stir in nuts. Soften and mash cheese with enough milk or mayonnaise to make a good spreading consistency. Combine with pineapple mixture. Spread on thin bread, top as sandwich. Trim and cut into squares. Makes: About 4 cups.

    Yeah yeah, I know, I shoulda added this section ages ago. Everybody wants to know how to make po-boys, for one; it's really easy, but it can be tricky because good po-boy style French bread is nearly impossible to find outside New Orleans. I'll have to try to round up a recipe or it, for intrepid bakers. Making bread like that is an incredible amount of work. If you live in the Los Angeles area, you're in luck a bakery in Santa Monica called Le Pain du Jour (828 Pico Blvd., just east of Lincoln Blvd.) makes beautiful, perfect baguettes that are the closest thing you'll come to New Orleans-style French bread in this city. Get there early in the morning, before they run out. Once you've got the bread, that's half the battle. If you want your sandwich "dressed", as we say in the Crescent City, add mayonnaise ("mynez"), lettuce, tomatoes and if you want, dill pickles. Then fill it with fried shrimp, fried oysters (or both), tender roast beef and gravy, ham and cheese, or what is perhaps my favorite po-boy in the world ... grilled patties of Creole hot sausage with cheese. Mmmmmmm, yeah you rite!

    from Australian Toaster Biscuits Recipe File Sensational Seafood Sandwiches Amount Ingredient Australian Toaster Biscuits, split and lightly toasted 3/4 cup softened cream cheese Dash cayenne pepper 1 tablespoon sweet bell pepper 1 tablespoon chopped chives 2 ounces cooked flaked crabmeat, surimi or smoked salmon 1 to 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish, if desired Thin cucumber slices, if desired Preparation Tips: Blend together cream cheese, sweet and cayenne peppers, chives, crab, and horseradish. Spread 1/2 cup seafood cheese blend on each of 3 Toaster Biscuit halves. Garnish with cucumber twists. Top with remaining halves. Makes 3 servings.

    ½ stick butter 2 tablespoons fresh mint leaves 8 thin slices of white bread, crusts removed ½ large cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced In a small bowl combine the butter and mint. Mix well.
