The recreational sailing part of this club is the absolute heart of the club. This is where we teach new sailors the joys of sailing and the old sailors new tricks to make them better. Rec sailing is where sailors go to either hone their skills or just hang out with friends. The club recsails every saturday or sunday of every weekend we can gather enough people that want to go. Employment The Department of Campus Recreation through the sailing program offers a complete sailing program including instructional classes, seminars and personal recreational use of the boats. In addition there is a wide variety of sailing activities; racing, night sails, fun sails, evening lectures, social events and more. Our Classes The classes are offered through Campus Recreation and get you out sailing right from the start. The beginning level course, Capri is designed for those with little or no experience. This is taught in the protected waters of Newport Harbor . Intermediate and advanced level classes are also offered using our Capri 14.2's, Flying juniors and Shields keelboats. Classes are open to both UCI and other UC students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Spouses/domestic partners of the above are also eligible. All of the above may also sign up a guest to take the class with them. (Guest must be 18 years of age or older). Recreational Boat Use and Sailing Association: The Sailing program allows those eligible to use the boats for personal recreational use.
