Thank you for your inquiry regarding the use of roller skates/blades on a maple gymnasium floor. MFMA does not recommend the use of roller skates/blades on a standard gymnasium floor. Nylon, plastic, and metal wheels can cause scuff marks and scratches in the gymnasium finish. Ongoing skating activities can shorten the life of the finish and skating accidents have the potential to cause damage to the maple flooring itself. Rev. February 2005

We went through extensive research before purchasing our components including looking both at wooden and concrete components. We chose Sk8parks International primarily because of its indestructibility.

I’ve been extremely impressed with your company from the very beginning. In the design stage, you were very patient and helpful. The actual construction of the park was performed timely and professionally. And your equipment has proved to be fun, sturdy, and aesthetically pleasing. We could not have asked for more from your company. When we are ready to add another skate park to our community, we will no doubt ask your company to do the job. Elizabeth , CO

"After two years….your structures are holding up well, despite the almost regional amount of use that the park receives. If anything, the city did not come close to understanding the demand for skate parks. Your advice during the design and construction for the project was as durable as your structures."
Harry Johnson, Senior Landscape Architect
City of Arvada , CO
All our obstacles are constructed of 100% heavy duty steel.
SI skating surfaces have no wood or plastic, and no bolts or screws. We initially made wood structures, but discovered that they do not stand up to abuse and weather. Even 100% marine plywood with galvanized metal on all surfaces didn't last, because water would seep through the cracks and rot out the sub-floors. Wood and plastic products often crack and break, and they require screws that are a maintenance nightmare, requiring inspection and tightening on a regular basis. Screws can back out, heads snap off, and then kids get injured. If inspection is not performed, liability increases exponentially.
Concrete obstacles must be installed by qualified builders and an experienced crew

Team Phoenix Rising Forums Tatooine The Mos Espa Grand Arena View Full Version : Anyone know anything about Roller Blades? Ciccio Siciliana and I have got a matching set of Fila Roller Blades, we bought them in a hurry and in a high street shop with little choice.
Looking around these seem to be the 'aggresive' style of skates, all hard plastic outer, really tough, and a kind of sock type thing inside for putting your feet in. Needless to say these are rather unflexible, and because you can't bend the outer plastic, have to be laced and latched VERY tight to stop your foot wobbling around inside.
Looking around at others when we go skating, they usually have 'recreational' skates which seem more normal boots, with the skate part moulded around the boot, these look
    1) More comfy
    2) Easier to use
Siciliana is just starting and needs practice, but is finding it hard to pick up, I was wondering wether a switch to a 'recreational' boot would be a good idea. What the trade off between the 2 are, and wether they are easier to use.
    Any help appreciated.
