Advertising Trail To Success The Todd Melucci Story Original story from the Providence Journal Todd's teachers were amazed at his abilities. They were especially astounded by his mathematical skills and quickly advanced him to a higher level. Todd continued at that pace throughout grade school and high school. He graduated from Lincoln High School and continued his education at the Community College of Rhode island. After two years of studying business at CCRI, his individualistic urges also told him that there existed a need for him to be his own boss in life. Todd followed his urges and utilized his knowledge constructively. He started his own company, Alpine Fabrics, in 1993. This small company was only a stepping stone for the young entrepreneur. In 1995, he spread his wings out to his current business, Alpine Enterprise Corporation. With Todd as the Chief Executive Officer-President, this business has made considerable profit selling state of the art janitorial products.

http://www.riddc.org/education.shtml
Education
Children with disabilities are usually eligible for extended school year (ESY) programs. So, what exactly are we talking about here? Ideally, the ESY should be tailored to meet a student’s specific needs and goals. It should also be interesting and fun.
What help your child can get is up to you, the school and the Individualized Education Plan team (IEP) of professionals who chart your child’s school program. Some ESY options include summer school, tutoring at home, a private residential program, or a summer camp. Whether you are trying to justify an ESY for your child, or are working with the IEP team to create an effective and enjoyable program, attend the IEP team meeting armed with your documentation and several different ideas on how to implement a summer program.
Be creative. Discard the idea that the ESY needs to happen in a classroom or a traditional academic setting. For instance children who need to work on socialization skills belong with their peers. Instead of providing an aide for classroom support, find out if an aide can support the child at a camp. Local cities and towns, YMCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, the Boy and Girl Scouts and athletic associations provide summer programs that do not exclude children with disabilities. We think that there are countless ways to create and implement an ESY if you’re willing to “think outside the school.”
Beyond specialized programs
While participation in special programs is at times beneficial, regular programs offer a wider range of opportunities and are offered at more locations. Remember, ESY services, like all other special education services, should be provided in the least restrictive environment. This means that ESY services should allow students with disabilities to interact with children who do not have disabilities. Be sure to explore a variety of resources and programs in your community. You don’t need to limit options to specialized or segregated programs just for children with disabilities.

School Support System Report and Support Plan for the Jamestown Public Schools January 20-26, 2004
SCHOOL SUPPORT SYSTEM
Introduction The purpose of the School Support System (SSS) is to provide a means of accountability for delivery of programs and services for students with disabilities. The School Support System model is designed to promote the involvement of the whole school district, regular educators as well as special educators and parents. It is designed to learn of the district meets the minimum regulations and what effects the program and services have on student performance. Finally, the SSS develops a school support plan for training and technical assistance. To accomplish this the SSS includes these components:
  • The Orientation Meeting The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) staff meets with the Local Education Agency (LEA) to plan the site visit and identify issues or initiatives that may influence programs or service delivery. Data Analysis Meeting The RIDE staff meets to review LEA demographic information on selected reports including: the LEA annual plan, census information, and information collected through record review, staff questionnaires and parent interviews.
