The recreational wildlife (specialist) licence and international wildlife licence have been abolished. Clients with a recreational wildlife licence can keep restricted or international reptiles if the animals are identified on the licence. However, the type of animal (restricted or international) affects how much the client pays for the recreational wildlife licence. The fee schedule is below.
Applicants for a wildlife recreational licence for restricted or international animals also need to meet legal requirements before they can be issued with a licence. These include experience handling venomous reptiles, handling rare and threatened species and writing scientific papers on restricted reptiles. To determine if you meet these legal requirements, contact the EcoAccess Customer Service Unit on 1300 368 326 or your local Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service office. Fees standard fee $50.00 for five years

    http://www.wildlifetrust.org.uk/facts/reptile.htm
    British Reptiles
There are six species of reptiles native to the UK: adders (also known as vipers), grass snakes, smooth snakes, sand lizards, common lizards and slow worms. Dry heathlands are the best natural habitats for British reptiles, but semi-natural areas with heath-like conditions such as railway embankments, sea walls, road verges, churchyards, golf courses and almost any area with a sunny south facing slope and open vegetation may be suitable. What is a reptile? Reptiles have characteristic differences which make them quite distinct from other animals.
  • Their bodies are covered with scales or horny plates.
  • They are cold blooded which means they control their body temperature by getting their heat directly from the sun or other warm objects, rather than from the food they eat.
  • Snakes and lizards have teeth which are continually replaced throughout their life.
  • Reptiles also shed their skins at least once a year depending on species, and you may find a discarded, colourless skin in summer months. Shedding or 'sloughing' allows the reptile to grow, and helps dispose of parasites, dirt and deposits on the skin.
  • The adder and the common lizard give birth to live young, but other reptiles lay eggs.

    'helping and healing wildlife'
Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care is dedicated to helping native wildlife through rehabilitation of injured, ill and orphaned birds, mammals, and reptiles and by furthering public knowledge and appreciation of wildlife through education. Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care rehabilitates wildlife in need of help with the goal of restoring them to the free, wild and natural life that is their birthright. Songbirds, hawks, owls, water birds, and small mammals are brought to us from as far north as Bridgeport and Walker and as far south as Olancha. Most animals are rescued from roadsides or backyards by compassionate individuals. In some cases, ESWC may send a rescue team.
ESWC seeks to educate individuals, businesses and organizations about living with their wild neighbors and how to prevent conflicts from arising. We also have educational programs designed for schools and organizations which are offered free of charge. If you are interested or want more info contact Cindy Kamler

    Controlling Snake Problems Around Homes
Controlling snake problems around residences is covered here. Ron J. Johnson, Extension Wildlife Specialist Previous Category Catalog Order Info Occasionally people encounter snakes around their homes or in other places, and wonder what to do about the snakes or whether they are dangerous. In nearly all cases, these are harmless types such as garter snakes or bullsnakes. However, Nebraska does have four kinds of poisonous snakes the prairie rattlesnake, timber rattlesnake, western massasauga (a small rattlesnake), and copperhead. The prairie rattlesnake is found in the western two-thirds of Nebraska and the other three in the southeastern corner ( Figure 1
Figure 1. This map shows the areas where each of Nebraska's four poisonous snakes may occur. This NebGuide provides guidelines for controlling snakes in areas near homes where they cause problems or concerns. If you live in an area where poisonous snakes occur, consult EC 89-1761, Poisonous Snake and Snakebite in Nebraska Knowledge about snakes is helpful in understanding how to handle situations where they are encountered. Consider purchasing a good field guide and reviewing books at libraries to help sharpen your skills. bother good way to learn about snakes and how to identify them is to view them at local zoos and nature centers.
