Reading Tools
The Tools in more depth
The King County Library System’s iPac Catalog gives you many tools to read about and find the library item you are looking for. The Basic Tabs give you several different tabs: the Search tabs allow you to search the website for any books that you want. You can also search in different formats: basic is simple, the advanced search gives you more options, the numeric allows you to search by numbers like the call number or ISBN of the item. You can also search just in Kids and Teens. The Search tab also gives you the option to browse through award winning books or to ask a question in various ways. The tab labeled ‘My Account’ allows you to see what books you have out, on hold, ect. The ‘Good Reads’ tab gives you the best bets for adults, teens and kids separately. The Databases tab allows you to access KCLS’s various databases and the feedback tab gives you ways in which to contact them. The icon and link in the upper left corner of the screen link you back to the main website. The ‘Type of Search’ allows you to change the search type to just the author, just the title, or the format to search for like audio books. Then after changing the type of search and changing the input in the text box you click the go button and it displays your results. Another way to change the text box input and the search type is the ‘refine search’ option. After your results are displayed, you can change the way they are displayed on the page by changing the ‘Sort By Option’. This allows you to sort the results by author, title publication date, or any mixture that you wish to use. You can also use the pull down below it to change the format that is displayed, this would be helpful if you just wanted audio books or magazines or something very specific. After changing the ‘Sort By Option’ and/or the format of the book you simply press the go button to display your results anew.

Exploring ZoomText's Windows
ZoomText users are diverse in many ways, from their type of vision impairment, to the computer applications they use, to their preferences on how the screen is magnified. One of the ways in which ZoomText accommodates this diversity is through its eight zoom window types: Full, Overlay, Lens, Line and four Docked positions. Each of these zoom windows provide a unique way of viewing the screen.
Full zoom window
Overlay zoom window
Lens zoom window
Line zoom window
Docked (bottom ) zoom window
The most popular zoom window is Full zoom . In Full zoom, the entire screen is magnified, thus allowing you to see the maximum area possible. Many users don't venture beyond this choice because it's both functional and comfortable. All of ZoomText's remaining zoom window types occupy only a portion of the screen. With these zoom windows you can see both magnified and unmagnified views at that same time. The Overlay zoom window displays a magnified view that can be sized and positioned to occupy any area of the screen. This zoom window is convenient when you need to park the zoom window in a specific location. Using Lens zoom is like moving a hand-held magnifying glass in front of the screen, where only the material directly beneath the lens is magnified. As you move the mouse, type in text, and navigate menus and dialogs, the Lens automatically moves across the screen to keep the focus in view.
