Who We Are
We're a group of friends that has been meeting to discuss books over a tasty meal for several years. We developed this website for internal communication; later we realized that others might be interested in what we were reading, and the web resources we had located to support our book discussions. If you really want to know more about the group, you can read Ellie's letter to the magazine writer who professed an interest in how our group works. And sorry to be so blunt, but we're not soliciting new members.
Book Club History
We've been meeting every two or three months since February, 1993. If you're interested, you can check out the books we've read and the food we've eaten. We include recommended books and links to reading guides, where available.
Our Press Coverage
The popular media has taken an inexplicable interest in our group. You can read some snippets here.

NESFA Hugo recommended reading lists NESFA continues to maintain a list of Good Stuff to read. Any NESFA member who reads something that they would like to recommend to others to be considered for a Hugo nomination can add it to the list. We will publish it from time to time in Instant Message and on the nets. (Feel free to reproduce it provided you reproduce it intact!) It's neither definitive nor complete, but it contains the stories, novels and non-fiction works that a bunch of well-read fans feel may be worthy of a Hugo nomination. Even when the period for Hugo nominations is over, we will keep the lists for the current year, as well as previous years, available on the nets. It provides a reference source for finding a good book, as well as for Hugo recommendations. Lists for a given year tend to get updated until the Hugo nominees for that year are released, so that 1995 lists, for example, were being updated through early 1996. The Reading lists for the following years are available:

ATN - Book Lists (Suggested Reading)
Introduction: ATN Book Lists has grown significantly since its birth in 1996. There are now close to 1,000 lists on the site! This has made keeping this index page manageable a very hard task. I am currently rethinking how to organzie this page. In the meantime, if you have trouble finding a particular list, you may want to utilize the "Find on page" link in your browser. Simply go to the "Edit" menu, choose "Find in page" and then you can type your search term. Or you may use the search box. Search this site powered by FreeFind
