Rogue River Wilderness Lodge and Fly Fishing Trips
  • The best wildlife viewing of all the western rivers Sparkling rapids, green forest and historical sites The ultimate Oregon family camping adventure Trips to fit any skill level or age group Experienced and outrageously fun guides Affordable prices for priceless memories Attentive, helpful and friendly office staff
The Rogue's wildlife viewing is legendary. Deer, black bear, river otters, mallard ducks, turtles, bald eagles, and osprey are usually seen during your 34 mile trip from Grave Creek to Foster Bar. Rafters have been known to have deer in their camp feeding out of their hand. Fishing on the Rogue for steelhead and salmon is famous also. Enjoy your adventure vacation on the nation's first national "Wild and Scenic" river. Whitewater rafters are guaranteed an uncrowded, pristine adventure. Novelist Zane Grey felt the draw of this beautiful area, he wrote many of his western books in a cabin which still stands along the Rogue today. The area is steeped in history and lore from Native American's to recent stories told around the campfire. The Rogue has famous fun rapids like Rainie Falls, Upper and Lower Black Bar Falls and Blossom Bar (Class IV) that will leave you memories of the sun dancing off of frothing warm water through beautiful rock formations and narrow canyons edged by towering cliffs.

713 Amusement, Gambling, and Recreation Industries
713 Amusement, Gambling, and Recreation Industries Industries in the Amusement, Gambling, and Recreation Industries subsector (1) operate facilities where patrons can primarily engage in sports, recreation, amusement, or gambling activities and/or (2) provide other amusement and recreation services, such as supplying and servicing amusement devices in places of business operated by others; operating sports teams, clubs, or leagues engaged in playing games for recreational purposes; and guiding tours without using transportation equipment. This subsector does not cover all establishments providing recreational services. Other sectors of NAICS also provide recreational services. Providers of recreational services are often engaged in processes classified in other sectors of NAICS. For example, operators of resorts and hunting and fishing camps provide both accommodation and recreational facilities and services. These establishments are classified in Subsector 721, Accommodation, partly to reflect the significant costs associated with the provision of accommodation services and partly to ensure consistency with international standards. Likewise, establishments using transportation equipment to provide recreational and entertainment services, such as those operating sightseeing buses, dinner cruises, or helicopter rides, are classified in Subsector 48-49, Transportation and Warehousing.

In The Early Days
In the early days, rafting was novel and operations were simple. Some outfitters operated out of tents or small trailers near the put-in sites along the New, Gauley and Cheat rivers. Amenities were nonexistent. Guests paid for their trips, put on their safety gear and hit the rivers for a half day or full day of rafting. When the fun was over, many traveled home that evening or to hotels miles away from the rafting area. Regardless, the adventurers kept coming back. They told others of their whitewater experiences, and when they returned they brought those friends with them. The river outfitters started to look to the future; these young entrepreneurs began to think about ways to improve the whitewater experience, offer guest services and take responsible stock of their businesses in the mountains of West Virginia. More Ways to Enjoy the Rivers
Today, rafters can select from first-class amenities and numerous rafting options. Rafting outfitters offer mild-to-wild trips that appeal to anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty of the West Virginia hills from the vantage point of the rivers. Those options include heritage excursions featuring historic commentary and views of mining ghost towns, nature trips focusing on the flora and fauna of the area, fish-and-float tours and adventure rides.

River Tubing Information Enjoy an afternoon drifting and paddling down the river while playing and talking with your friends. Often you see osprey, blue herons, mallards, and other wildlife. This outing is a variety of smooth water and mild rapids. The three components of the activity are floating, shooting mild rapids (class I – II), and hand paddling your tube to be positioned for the river’s path. Our tubes are designed for your comfort, colorful vinyl tubes with convenient handles, not hot black truck tubes. Each tube has a convenient mesh pocket for bringing a lunch and non-alcoholic beverages. The length of your float depends on water conditions, usually about 3-4 hours. A guide accompanies all of our trips. All trips are for private groups of 18 or more and include use of the tube, PFD (flotation vest), and shuttle. We hope that you and a group you are associated with will join us for some fun! Hotel and camping accommodations are available if you are coming to Richmond from out of town. Participants must be able to swim, weigh a minimum of 50 pounds, at least 6 years old, and wear a PFD (personal flotation device) at all times.

Adventure Awaits on the River
From its rough-and-ready origins scarcely 30 years ago, whitewater rafting in West Virginia has become the modern-day centerpiece of complete vacations that can encompass a world of activities, both on the river and off. The key ingredient, of course, is still the tremendous whitewater that courses through the state's spectacular mountain scenery. West Virginia offers one of the broadest array of river experiences available anywhere in the world, from mild to wild with everything in between. But for many of today's visitors, that's just the beginning.
In The Early Days
In the early days, rafting was novel and operations were simple. Some outfitters operated out of tents or small trailers near the put-in sites along the New, Gauley and Cheat rivers. Amenities were scarce. Guests paid for their trips, put on their safety gear and hit the rivers for a half day or full day of rafting. When the fun was over, many traveled home that evening or to hotels miles away from the rafting area.

Here are just a few of the rivers you may want to consider rafting or kayaking on. There are many others that are not listed. On the eastern side of the Andes one finds the Amazon basin and some fantastic jungle rivers. In comparison to the rivers on the western side of the Andes, these rivers are bigger and offer river runs throughout the year. If you are looking for some great rafting or kayaking, while at the same time experiencing the rainforest, then this is the place to go. Many tour companies will combine rafting trips with excursions into the surrounding jungle. Trips can range anywhere from 1-5 days. One of the most popular rivers to run is the Rio Napo. This river is one of the major tributaries that feed into the Amazon River. Most of the rapids on this river are classified as Class 3. The river definitely offers a little something for everyone. You will experience incredible jungle scenery, thrilling rapids, some calm areas of water, plus much more. The highest water levels tend to be from March through October.
