What is Pelvic Ultrasound Imaging?
Ultrasound or sonography involves the sending of sound waves into the body. Those sound waves are reflected off the internal organs. The reflections are then recorded by special instruments that subsequently create an image of anatomic parts. No ionizing radiation (x-ray) is involved in ultrasound imaging. For women, pelvic ultrasound is most often used to examine the uterus and ovaries and, during pregnancy, to monitor the health and development of the embryo or fetus . In men, a pelvic ultrasound usually focuses on the bladder and the

Imbesi, MD Assistant Professor of Radiology University of California San Diego Medical Center San Diego, CA Needs Statement While MR imaging provides excellent detailed information regarding the anatomic structural changes in the brain, the etiology of the specific pathologic process is occasionally unclear. MR spectroscopy adds physiologic biochemical data, which narrows the list of possible differential diagnostc categories of disease, thus resulting in a more precise and definitive non-invasive evaluation of the patient. Learning Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Review the basic principles of proton MR spectroscopy and understand the emerging role of the new modality to improve interpretation of MRI. Evaluate optimal MR spectroscopy imaging choices and techniques for a comprehensive evaluation of the pathologic alterations in the brain.

87. Animal Radiology Clinic

http://www.xrayvet.com/
Dedicated to better animal health through the safe application
of radiation treatment and diagnostic imaging. Welcome! The Animal Radiology Clinic was founded in 1980 to provide advanced medical imaging and radiation therapy for pets throughout northern Texas and adjacent states. Our goal was that pet owners would not have to travel to a far off veterinary college to obtain the services of a radiologist for their sick pet. We wanted to provide a place for pets to come for specialized imaging services and a local resource for veterinarians to have their own X-rays interpreted. Specially practices seem the norm now, but in 1980 there were only 5 radiologists in private practice in the United States. We soon realized that pets with cancer needed access to the technology routinely available to humans with cancer. In 1984, at a time when less than half the veterinary schools had radiation therapy facilities, the Animal Radiology Clinic became the first private veterinary practice in the country to install radiation treatment equipment for pets with cancer. In the late 1980's cats with overactive thyroid glands had only 2 treatment alternatives a lifetime of pills or risky surgery to remove the thyroid glands. The best treatment option was radioactive iodine (I -131), but regulatory agencies did not permit veterinarians in private practice to possess this radioactive material. The Animal Radiology Clinic worked for 2 years to get the regulations changed, and we have been using I 131 in our practice since 1989 to cure hyperthyroid cats, the first private practice in Texas to do so.

PRESENTATION
O n 11th December 1995 in Palermo there was the inauguration of the Museum of Radiology, during the Celebrations of the This Museum was conceived by Prof. Adelfio Elio Cardinale , Director of the Institute of Radiology " Pietro Cignolini " - University of Palermo, Italy. The museum is directed by Prof. Marcello De Maria. On display in our Museum there are instruments and devices of particular historical value, but also books, journals, correspondence of various kinds, widely used materials and commonly used apparatuses that bear witness to the development of our discipline. The kind concession of material by the heirs of the pioneers of Italian Radiology and by radiologists of old schools made it possible to set up the Museum.
