    • The Regional Radio Communications Frequency Planning and Allocation Program has been in operation since 1988.
The purpose of the overall program is to develop and implement a plan for the effective distribution and use of radio frequencies, with the intent to improve public safety agencies' overall radio communications effectiveness. This is accomplished by assisting local communities and other qualifying agencies in obtaining appropriate radio frequencies. Results include: less frequency congestion and interference, safer operation of public safety agencies and more effective service to the general public.
The Program's scope addresses the frequency spectrum of 821 - 824/866 - 869 MHz, 700MHz spectrum, and "give back" frequencies, i.e. those frequencies that are returned for reallocation.
Planning, application evaluation, and frequency recommendation activities are conducted by the Region 40 Regional Review Committee for 821 MHz frequencies. The Region 40 Radio Communications Planning Committee is developing a plan for the use of 700 MHz frequencies. Local governments and particularly public safety agencies benefit. Elmo autonomous robot
    Introduction
ELMO is an autonomous robot I constructed for my master's thesis at the department of Computer Science at the University of Twente . My assignment was to design and implement a robot that would be able to move around using genetic algorithms. This webpage shows you how I made the robot using LEGO, the Handy Board, motors, sensors, and a radio data transceiver. Each of these components will be discussed in the next paragraphs. If you are interested in the rest of the work (including the genetic algorithms and the results), please let me know at: jansipke @ runbox . com
    LEGO
The body of the robot is made of LEGO Technic. Basic parts of the LEGO Technic Barcode Truck (item number 8479) are used for the construction of the body. The main function of the body is to firmly hold the Handy Board, the motors, the sensors, and the radio data transceiver.
    Handy Board
The Handy Board is a microcontroller board designed by the MIT for experimental mobile robotic projects. It is used throughout the world by researchers and teachers in the robotics field.

    Radio communication
Mobile communication implies radio. Indeed, radio even in two directions. The most obvious one is in establishing a radio connection between the mobile network and the cell phones or mobile terminals. But also on the other side the connection between the base station to the core network of a mobile phone operator in surprisingly high numbers is realised with radio links. On top of this, wireless local area networks (WLAN) represent a major growth market these days - with applications in office, at home and for public access, here complementing of even competing with cellular mobile networks. Combining radio link technology and WLAN technology is the base of Fixed Wireless Broadband, these days in the move from proprietary into standard solutions.
For all the above mentioned segments with their respective requirements, NEC can offer a wide variety of radio components. And for the digital functions like baseband processing and medium access control (MAC) NEC offers standard components, ASSP and ASIC technology.

Other wireless radio technologies include cordless phones, cellular phones, pagers, garage door openers, walkie-talkies, satellite messaging systems, amateur packet radio, and citizens band radio. Many copper-cable network technologies also operate in the frequency bands allocated to radio. The topic " Electromagnetic Spectrum " has a table that illustrates the most common uses of the radio spectrum.

Aptos company reintroduces build-it-yourself radio communication
    By GWEN MICKELSON
Sentinel staff writer That could be because Swartz, 48, is a longtime "ham" radio operator who got into the hobby known for its enthusiastic and close-knit practitioners when he was 14. "You can build a radio from a kit, then throw a wire over a tree and be talking to anyone in the world," said Swartz. Elecraft, founded by Swartz and chief technical officer Wayne Burdick in 1998, sells a line of build-it-yourself shortwave transceivers in a range of capabilities, as well as build-it-yourself and assembled accessories including microphones, Morse code keys and antennas. Elecraft picks up in the spirit of the well-known electronics kit company Heathkit of Benton Harbor, Mich., which was bought by Zenith Electronics Corp., then Zenith Radio Corp., in the 1980s. The kit line was phased out soon after the acquisition in favor of the personal computer products line, said Swartz, though it had a loyal following. Advertisement
Then "about 10 years ago, there seems to have been kind of a mini-revolution in building things again," and there were a lot of small club groups that started building member-designed kits, said Burdick, 48, who also got into ham radio as a youngster.
