TRAC is an ARRL-affiliated radio club, serving the interests of licensed amateurs in the Santa Clara Valley ("Silicon Valley") and also local employees of Hewlett Packard Company interested in getting their FCC amateur radio licenses and operating as amateurs. We maintain a UHF Repeater (440.15MHz, PL=100Hz) that is open for use by the community; TRAC members gain access to the codes allowing the Repeater to be used for autopatch and other functions. Our Shack in HP's Building CAC07 (Bldg 200, at 10435 N. Tantau Avenue) has a full range of HF (TS-430), UHF, and VHF equipment and modes, including Packet Radio, 6- and 2-meter weak-signal, VHF/UHF FM, and world-band HF (with our Mosley PRO-57A antenna at 60' over Cupertino).
Meetings:
We meet monthly (first Wednesday of each month) at 19333 Vallco Parkway, Cupertino, near Vallco Park at Fwy 280 and Wolfe Road (Room 2214, old Room 2101, Bldg CAC03. above ATM), at noon (bring your own lunch!) members and guests are welcome. Use the map at right.

The club was formed in 1963 by a group of students at the Colchester technical college (now the Colchester Institute), and a number of Colchester radio amateurs who had studied at the college for the RAE. Meetings were held in the radio laboratory and concentrated on practical work and measurement, taking advantage of the wide range of equipment available and some expert help.
The membership increased steadily and the range of club activities expanded as a result. The club has always, and continues to, organise:
  • DF hunts on 1.8mhz (Click for more info) Mobile rallies, the first being held at Colchester Zoo in 1968 Training for the RAE, Foundation Licence, Novice Licence and Morse examinations. Many more!!
