LONDON, England (CNN) British talkshow host Robert Kilroy-Silk has hit out at the BBC for not supporting him in a row over an article in which he called Arabs "suicide bombers, limb-amputators, women repressors." The BBC has axed his morning half-hour show pending an inquiry but Kilroy-Silk accused his bosses of "giving way" to a lobby demanding his resignation. He said he had hoped the corporation would have "kept the programme going and dealt with the criticisms." The former British Labour MP, 61, also said he thought the BBC had reacted "differently" to the row than it otherwise would have done because of the imminent publication of the Hutton report, which has put in the spotlight the issue of BBC presenters writing for newspapers. The corporation said there would be no further comment until its investigation was concluded. (

Anti Racism Campaign (ARC)
Who we are and what we stand for The Anti Racism Campaign (ARC) is an open and democratic alliance of people who came together to combat the anti-refugee and anti-immigrant hysteria initiated and encouraged by many politicians and sections of the media. We are non party political. We support equal rights for refugees and immigrants: work, welfare, housing and entry into Ireland. We welcome the advent of greater ethnic diversity as a positive development for Irish society. We also oppose the racist treatment that has been experienced by Travelers (an Irish ethnic minority). We oppose sexism, sectarianism and homophobia. We are against immigration controls and refuse to separate people into "deserving" (refugees) and "non-deserving" (immigrants). Millions of Irish people have emigrated in search of a better life. 150 years ago there were 8 million people living in Ireland, today the number has only climbed back to 5 million. For the Irish government to deny people entry is particularly hypocritical and discriminatory. Racism does not offer any solution to poverty here. It is an attempt to hold foreign born people responsible for the government's neglect of working class communities and their underfunding of welfare services. Racism divides ordinary tax paying workers and unemployed people on the grounds of colour, and deflects us into fighting among ourselves. Meanwhile the government gives away our tax money in grants to big business and tax amnesties for the rich.

What Is Racism?
The 'racist' double standard: how Whites are made to feel guilty and "hateful" for loving their own people and culture.
by Thomas Jackson
There is surely no nation in the world that holds "racism" in greater horror than does the United States. Compared to other kinds of offenses, it is thought to be somehow more reprehensible. The press and public have become so used to tales of murder, rape, robbery, and arson, that any but the most spectacular crimes are shrugged off as part of the inevitable texture of American life. "Racism" is never shrugged off. For example, when a White Georgetown Law School student reported earlier this year that black students are not as qualified as White students, it set off a booming, national controversy about "racism." If the student had merely murdered someone he would have attracted far less attention and criticism. Racism is, indeed, the national obsession. Universities are on full alert for it, newspapers and politicians denounce it, churches preach against it, America is said to be racked with it, but just what is racism?

Nazi Racism
For years before Adolf Hitler became chancellor of Germany, he was obsessed with ideas about race. In his speeches and writings, Hitler spread his beliefs in racial "purity" and in the superiority of the "Germanic race" what he called an Aryan "master race." He pronounced that his race must remain pure in order to one day take over the world. For Hitler, the ideal "Aryan" was blond, blue-eyed, and tall. When Hitler and the Nazis came to power, these beliefs became the government ideology and were spread in publicly displayed posters, on the radio, in movies, in classrooms, and in newspapers. The Nazis began to put their ideology into practice with the support of German scientists who believed that the human race could be improved by limiting the reproduction of people considered "inferior." Beginning in 1933, German physicians were allowed to perform forced sterilizations, operations making it impossible for the victims to have children. Among the targets of this public program were Roma ( Gypsies ), an ethnic minority numbering about 30,000 in Germany, and handicapped individuals, including the mentally ill and people born deaf and blind. Also victimized were about 500 African-German children, the offspring of German mothers and African colonial soldiers in the Allied armies that occupied the German

S. Africa trying to revive U.N. racism meeting
DURBAN, South Africa (CNN) South Africa was trying to salvage a U.N. conference on racism by drawing up a new text on the issue of the Mideast, according to delegates from the European Union. The United States and Israel walked out of the World Conference Against Racism on Monday to protest a draft of the conference's final declaration that denounced "practices of racial discrimination against the Palestinians as well as other inhabitants of the Arab occupied territories" by Israel and said Zionism "is based on racial superiority." Negotiations to soften those statements failed, U.S. delegates said, and Secretary of State Colin Powell who did not attend the conference assailed its "hateful language" as he announced the U.S. withdrawal Monday. Israeli officials followed shortly afterward, with Foreign Minister Shimon Peres calling the conference "a farce." VIDEO CNN's Tumi Makgabo talks to U.S. Rep. Tom Lantos about the U. What is racism?
Racism is treating someone differently or unfairly simply because they belong to a different race or culture.
People can also experience prejudice because of their religion or nationality.
Racism takes many different forms. These can include:
  • Personal attacks of any kind, including violence
  • Written or verbal threats or insults
  • Damage to property, including graffiti
Why are people racist?
Unfortunately racism can exist in all races and cultures. Racists feel threatened by anyone who is from a different race or culture.
We are not born racist. Our views and beliefs develop as we grow up. If a child or young person grows up within a racist family, or has friends who are racist, they may believe that racism is normal and acceptable.
Prejudice of any kind is often based on ignorance and fear of anything unfamiliar.
The effects of racism
If a young person is experiencing racism of any kind, they may become lonely and sad. They may also try and avoid situations where racist behaviour could occur, and pretend to be ill, play truant from school, or be scared to leave their house. MASCOTS - Racism in Schools by State
Many of these schools and school board members claim to be "honoring" Native Americans by their use of a mascot like "Braves", or "Chiefs", or "Indians", or "Warriors", and even the more obvious racial slur "Redskins". I ask of each of these schools and school board members - If the people being "honored" feel only degradation, pain, racism , and disgust, then where is the "honor"?!!!! One particular school in California who refer to themselves as "Apache", were told by the Apache students of a school on the Apache reservation that they felt it was an insult for this to continue. The Califorina school decided that No matter what the Apache people feel and expressed to them , the "Apache" mascot will continue. This is "HONOR"?
