Day School After School Tutoring Summer Workshops Helpline ... Helpline Frostig Center Summer Workshops June 27 through August 5, 2005 Did your child struggle in school this year?
Give your child a break from the struggle
...not from the learning! For 17 years, Frostig Summer Workshops have helped students who struggle in school learn that being in a classroom can be a positive experience. Our affirmative learning philosophy is based on the following principles:
  • We teach children - not just subjects!
Our workshops engage students in the learning process by providing just the right climate for learning: a supportive atmosphere, meaningful curriculum, and teachers who care.
Small class size means attention that is more personal
With an 8:1 student-teacher ratio in each class , there is time for the teacher to get to know and understand your child's special learning needs. Our teachers work to find the key that unlocks the door to each child's enthusiasm and desire to learn.
Students who struggle to keep up with their class lose even more ground during the summer
And when a student struggles with learning usually the last thing they want is to spend the summer in a classroom, but by boosting their confidence and building their skills, students return to their regular schools in September knowing they really can learn.

Journalism Grammar-Spelling-Punctuation (GSP) Test
So you're a Journalism major...
Here are some commonly asked questions about the Grammar, Spelling, and Punctuation test required by the Department of Journalism at U.N.T.
Who must take the test?
All undergraduate journalism students in all sequences (Advertising, Broadcast News, News-Editorial, Public Relations, Photojournalism) are required to take News Reporting and Writing (JOUR 2310) as part of their core journalism classes. Before enrolling in this journalism course, you must pass all three sections of the GSP test.
Transfer students who receive credit for News Reporting and Writing will be required to pass the GSP test before enrolling in other journalism coursework.
What is the GSP test?
The Grammar, Spelling, and Punctuation (GSP) test is a basic skills test used to screen students before taking the first required writing class. Rather than testing aspects of journalism style taught in News Reporting and Writing, the test focuses on basic grammar such as improper subject-verb agreement and dangling modifiers as well as incorrect use of punctuation and commonly misspelled words.
The GSP test has twenty randomly generated, multiple-choice items in each of the three basic sections: grammar, spelling, and punctuation. There is no penalty for guessing. The test is self-paced and generally takes about forty-five minutes for the sixty items.

With a good word processor and a connection to the Internet, an A on your homework or a job promotion for your presentation is only a keystroke away. T he Internet can be a wonderful source of information for anyone who is looking for help with English or in writing letters, stories or essays. Of course, the best idea is to go straight to a search engine such as Infoseek, Yahoo or Alta Vista for help. A large number of the sites related to grammar are linked to each other. Everything is available on the Internet; grammar rules and examples of each; colleges that contain lessons and tests; explanations of punctuation rules and sites that merely 'talk' about the English language and the rules governing it. There are even sites that have all of the above. I have attempted to find a large sampling of the previously mentioned web sites that deal with grammar, punctuation, and writing.
