Radio Archive Crackdown On January 20th 2000 the FCC voted in favor of creating a Low-Power FM radio service! It was to be non-commercial educational service with two tiers: 10 watts and 100 watts. Over 1200 groups have applied for licenses! Some people don't want LPFM to happen, though, and moved to kill it, which led to Congress severely restricting LPFM by attaching a rider to an appropriations bill, which was signed by former President Clinton. Leonardo's Dream Machines
Monday, October 3 at 9 p.m.
The world's leading experts boldly attempt to build, for the first time ever, two of Leonardo da Vinci's machines to the exact specifications that he designed 500 years ago. The first is a giant crossbow, with arms nearly 70 feet across, and the second is a glider that predated flight by 400 years. This two-part special reveals whether the inventor's ideas were flights of fancy or revolutionary designs hundreds of years ahead of their time. CMU Public Radio

WYMS-FM
Your Milwaukee Station
Welcome to the home of WYMS-FM (88.9), a non-commercial radio station that will soon be bringing exciting new sounds to Milwaukee In the near future, WYMS will be transformed into a unique alternative to today's commercial radio, where everything’s often the same and not local. Soon, WYMS will be playing music and radio you never get to hear. The new format will support musicians and bring much-needed creativity to music radio. It will also focus on the needs of Milwaukee Public Schools parents and offer students valuable educational opportunities. The Milwaukee School Board, which owns WYMS, unanimously awarded Radio For Milwaukee a contract in November 2004 to operate the station. Radio For Milwaukee, a local non-profit group, has begun conducting community research and developing the new programming and format for the station. For now, WYMS will continue to broadcast programming purchased from JazzWorks, a service that the station has used for the last few years. But in the not-too-distant future, WYMS will begin broadcasting a groundbreaking, creative new format. So stay tuned! Please sign up for email updates at:
