Callback Framework for C++
About
libsigc++ implements a typesafe callback system for standard C++. It allows you to define signals and to connect those signals to any callback function, either global or a member function, regardless of whether it is static or virtual. It also contains adaptor classes for connection of dissimilar callbacks and has an ease of use unmatched by other C++ callback libraries. Libsigc++ is licensed under the GNU Library General Public License, LGPL
Features
  • Compile time typesafe callbacks (faster than run time checks) Typesafety violations report line number correctly with template names (no tracing template failures into headers) No compiler extensions or meta compilers required Proper handling of dynamic objects and signals (deleted objects will not cause seg faults) Extendable API at any level: signal, slot, connection and trackable Extensions do not require alteration of basic components User definable accumulators A variety of adaptors to change the callback signature: bind, hide, retype, compose and lambda call groups Various compilers and platforms are supported: gcc, cygwin, mingw32, MS .NET 2003, Sun Forte C++, Compaq C++, Intel C++, IBM AIX, Tru64, IRIX MipsPro.

J is a modern, high-level, general-purpose, high-performance programming language. J is portable and runs on Windows, Unix, Mac, and PocketPC handhelds. J runs both as a GUI and in a console (command line).
J can be dowloaded and installed for free (no 'crippled' versions). You must have a J User License (JUL) to program in J. End user applications (runtime apps) built with J that don't provide a J programming interface can be used without a JUL.
Get your J User License for the latest versions for free!
To paraphrase from the J Primer (one of several online J books) J is a very rich language. You could study and use it for years, and still consider yourself a beginner. The good news is that the essence of J is so simple and consistent, that you can quickly learn enough to start solving real and interesting problems.
J is particularly strong in the mathematical, statistical, and logical analysis of arrays of data. It is a powerful tool in building new and better solutions to old problems and even better at finding solutions where the problem is not already well understood.

Design Patterns in Web Programming
by Nathan Wallace (March 8, 2000)
1 Introduction
I was hacking code and searching through the PHP mailing list archives late one night when I stumbled across the message calling for Apachecon speakers. It was 5am and the deadline for submissions about one hour away. Suddenly the idea came to me - "Wouldn't it be interesting to try and identify patterns in web programming". So I wrote the ten line proposal and collapsed into bed. It's not until after the talk had been accepted (and I'd had some sleep) that I started to really think the idea through. Design patterns are usually the result of years of experience, collaboration and refinement. But web programming as we know it is really only a few years old and this presentation is a solo effort. So, think of this as the first step in an ongoing process. Design patterns generally arise through solving problems. Over time the best techniques to solve each problem are discovered and refined. We will identify, examine and attempt to classify a number of the problems commonly encountered by web programmers. Patterns are usually obvious to experienced programmers. There is a sense of déjà vu when solving similar problems. More difficult is the task of describing these patterns in a way that makes them accessible and understandable to less experienced developers. We will identify the important aspects of web programming patterns and construct a framework for their description.

Welcome to IBM Smalltalk Tutorial
Smalltalk is a popular object-oriented programming language. This tutorial covers object-oriented programming (OOP) with IBM Smalltalk. The material covered here is intended for the programmers with no prior experience with Smalltalk. This tutorial does not provide an exhaustive guide to every feature of the language and its libraries. Instead, it is intended to introduce important ideas and techniques needed by the Smalltalk novice. It is assumed that the reader is familiar with general programming terms and concepts, though not necessarily with object-oriented programming. To find out how to use this tutorial click here!

What is int 80h?
by G. Adam Stanislav
Whiz Kid Technomagic
On the Intel family of microprocessors, such as the Pentium, int 80h is the assembly language op code for interrupt 80h . This is the syscall interrupt on a typical Intel-based Unix system, such as FreeBSD . It allows application programmers to obtain system services from the Unix kernel. The Unix kernel services handle such things as the opening and closing of files, accessing various devices, reading from and writing to the terminal, starting new processes, etc. Without these services, every single program would have to do it on its own. The programmer would spend so much time interfacing with the computer hardware that he/she would have little energy left to concentrate on whatever his/her software is meant to do. Such was, indeed, the case back in the 1960’s when I started programming computers. To a lesser extent, such was the case in the 1980’s when the then new personal computers used MS DOS , an operating system that provided some of these services, but not all of them.

In a text editor like EditPad Pro or a specialized text processing tool like PowerGREP , you could use the regular expression to search for an email address.
