Make a Venn diagram on the board comparing the Pilgrim houses with the houses of today. Write student responses in the appropriate section. (For example: if a student should respond by saying “TV room” put the word under the “today” section.) Tell students to fold drawing paper in half. Lincoln Cabin Submitted by Carla What You Need: Milk Cartons Construction Paper Glue What You Do: Clean and dry milk cartons and then staple the tops together. This forms the roof of your cabin. Next cover your cabin with brown construction paper using glue (for added emphasis use strips to make it look more like a log cabin). Next cut out two triangles to cover the angles of the roof and then cut out a door (don't cut completely out just three sides) and draw a square window on another side (other than the one with the door) - you can paint shutters around the door. Put a shiny penny with Lincoln facing out in the window or in the triangle of the roof. Finally, cut out a rectangle for the roof and attach it to the box. You can add a chimney or other details if you wish.
