STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Johnnie Appleseed is a ministry of Christian Outreach within the neighborhood and community. We propose to develop a Christian preschool with a total Christian environment so that children will grow in their awareness of God through example and instruction. Our purpose is to help young children gain relational skills which spring from healthy self concepts coupled with empathy for others. This kind of preschool development prepares the way for a child's entrance into public kindergarten. II.STATEMENT ON CHRISTIAN EDUCATION III.METHODS, MATERIALS, AND EQUIPMENT MONTESSORI METHOD "The hand is the instrument of the mind," is a Montessorian precept and those who are teachers/directors of this Method are guided by some very useful keys to unlocking the workings of the child. The Method is not based on class values, or devotion to the production of only college graduates, but is based firmly on the belief in the essential dignity of all human beings, the spiritual quality of all children and the value of all human work with head and hand. It's goal is the maximum possible development of each child into a happy, fulfilled adult at peace with himself and with his neighbor. (excerpted from Montessori Matter, a guide for teachers of the Method)
