Rimm-Kaufman is leading a study to examine the ways in which children, especially those "at risk" for school failure, learn behavioral self-regulation from their teachers. This study will examine the ways in which teacher quality and their choice of classroom activities predict academic engagement and achievement in children in kindergarten and first grade. This study, funded by the National Science Foundation, will start data collection in Summer, 2005. My Teaching Partner (MTP) NICHD Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development National Center for Early Development and Learning Multi-State Pre-K Study Teachers for a New Era (TNE) Responsive Classrooms Preschool Curriculum Evaluation Research (PCER) Stanton-Chapman is leading a study that examines the effectiveness of a social communication training intervention program for the prevention and treatment of problem behavior and poor language skills in preschool at-risk children. This study examines the immediate, generalized, and developmental effects of this peer-directed intervention with children who have high behavior problems and low language skills.
