About Us Admissions
Bottom of the Backpack ... hemes OVERVIEW Established in 1998, The Darcy School is an independent, coeducational school for students in preschool through eighth grade. Located on fifteen park-like acres in Chatham, New Jersey, the newly renovated academic building has three floors containing our Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School Academic Centers. The estate house is home to our administrative offices as well as our three-room library while our dining hall and multiple outdoor play areas provide the students a beautiful natural setting for engaging in socialization. The school draws students of diverse backgrounds from 25 communities and four counties across northern New Jersey. Our students love school. They are actively engaged in their education and are given strategies to complement their individual learning profiles. Students strive to do their personal best each and every day, and they receive the personal attention and encouragement each child deserves. We are a small school by design. Studies show that a small class size is the single most important factor for success in school at the elementary level. The student/faculty ratio is typically 7:1. A cutting edge, multi-sensory curriculum and our experienced and talented faculty ensure an exciting and fun educational experience. We build a strong community, both inside and outside of school. Communication with parents revolves around all aspects of the child’s academic and emotional development. Children learn the importance of respect and are empowered to share their ideas and feelings.

The result is Education World, a resource that includes a search engine for educational websites, a place where educators can find information without searching the entire Internet; original content, including lesson plans, practical information for educators, information on how to integrate technology in the classroom, and articles written by education experts; website reviews; daily features and columns; teacher and principal profiles.
: This website is for primary school teachers who would like to use the Internet for lots of information. This site was produced and maintained by Mrs. Susan Stein. You can use the Teacher Resource Page for 100's of links to poetry, language, science, social studies, writing, etc. Themes On Line offers many themes that you could use in the classroom. It is unique because it offers graphics, introductions, vocabulary explanations, poetry, quizzes, and word searches. Benefits
A quality childhood program
The Child Development Laboratory (CDL) provides high-quality early childhood education and childcare for young children from three years old through kindergarten. The CDL is a relatively small center, offering a warm and personal caregiving environment for approximately 56 children in two multi-age preschool classes and a full-day Kindergarten. The center is licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services, and has a contract with the Department of Economic Security to provide childcare assistance to eligible families. The CDL'S education philosophy is based on the National Association for the Education of the Young Children's (NAEYC) Position Statement on Developmentally Appropriate Practice. This means that we provide a wide range of age-appropriate activities that facilitate children's intellectual, social-emotional, and physical development. In addition, curriculum activities and adult-child interactions are tailored to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of each child.
A university at your doorstep
Children at the CDL have access to the many rich and varied resourcesof a major university. Our program includes walking field trips to the museums, libraries, and centers on ASU's campus. We also have frequent "guest speakers"and special activities from such departments as music, art, education, nursing, intercollegiate atheltics, and architecture.
