PRESCHOOL PATHWAYS TO SCIENCE CURRICULUM
1. What is Preschool Pathways to Science? Preschool Pathways to Science is a science-based curriculum that builds on a child’s in-born urge to explore and investigate through the senses, to make connections between what is familiar and what is new, to construct knowledge from experience and to master new skills. Teachers design learning experiences organized around a central concept and responsive to the needs and interests of the children in their group.
The PrePS curriculum encourages children to form patterns of thought that will support and enhance lifetime learning: Adults and children are seen as learners who observe, predict, measure, test, document and communicate. Through a process of thinking, talking and working, the curriculum fosters critical thinking and the ability to ask questions. It allows children and teachers to experience the pleasure of having wonderful ideas and the joy of finding things out.

SchoolNet is a Federal/Provincial/Territorial and Industry Initiative developed in order to introduce elementary and secondary school students and teachers to the Internet, and to enhance educational opportunities by making national and international resources available to them. The Federal Government has committed $1.6 million to the SchoolNet initiative for 1994-1995. The project was officially announced in August 1993, and the aim of the pilot phase was to connect 300 schools. Due to the overwhelming success of the initiative in its first year, the goal now is to connect all 17,000 of the schools in Canada. This WWW site is but one of the many services through which SchoolNet brings you the best in on-line educational resources and activities. We hope you find what you are looking for and we always welcome comments and suggestions.
