    Iona Community

"Iona is a small island off the west coast of Scotland, where in 563 Columba founded a Celtic monastery that was very influential in its own times. In the middle ages it was the site of a Benedictine abbey and over the centuries has attracted many thousands of people on their own pilgrim journeys. The Iona Community, founded in 1938 by the Rev George MacLeod, then a parish minister in Glasgow is an ecumenical Christian community that is committed to seeking new ways of living the Gospel in today's world. Initially this purpose was expressed through the rebuilding of the monastic quarters of the mediaeval abbey on Iona and pursued in mission and ministry throughout Scotland and beyond. The Community today remains committed to: rebuilding the common life, through working for social and political change, striving for the renewal of the church with an ecumenical emphasis, and exploring new more inclusive approaches to worship, all based on an integrated understanding of spirituality."

Looking for something?
We are all looking for something. Something...from the mundanity of lifelike a stray button, lost keys, the perfect outfit; to more important things like a good school, a reliable employee, a safe place to live;to our very deepest need of being spiritually restored to right relationship with God.
First Church was born of grace in 1885, and exists to introduce Jesus Christ as our way of life, that many may come to "taste and see that the Lord is good."
It's that taste of life in Christ that we seek in and through the ministries of First Presbyterian Church, Tulsa. So, if you're looking for something real and genuine in your life, we pray that you will find Jesus Christ here, with us.

Upholding the Inerrancy of Scripture
Adhering to the Westminster Standards
Fulfilling the Great Commission History The Evangelical Presbyterian Church in England and Wales (EPCEW) is a young denomination with roots that go back hundreds of years. It was formed in two stages.
  • In 1986 the London Presbyterian Conference drew together a group of ministers and other active Christians who wanted to see a new Presbyterian Church in England. From that conference arose the Presbyterian Association in England (PAE).
  • In 1996 five churches that had identified themselves with the PAE declared themselves to be a Presbytery, calling themselves the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in England and Wales.
Since that time the presbytery has grown to 9 churches and is currently developing a new mission church in the Birmingham area. Doctrinal Commitment The EPCEW holds as its confession the Westminster Confession of Faith (WCF), which was drawn up at Westminster Abbey in London at the request of Parliament in the 1640's. The WCF and its related Catechisms ( Larger and Shorter ) have been the standard confession of faith for Presbyterians all around the world ever since the Church of Scotland first adopted it in 1647.

It is the supreme discovery of the Christian life that we do not need to torture ourselves with a losing battle to earn God's love, that what we need to do is to accept in perfect trust the love which God offers to us. [ William Barclay ]
A Reformed Fellowship
We are glad that you are visiting our website today. We have discovered that Jesus Christ is the most extraordinary person imaginable. He is our Savior and Lord. Relating to him in worship is an adventure. Focusing on him brings joy and fulfillment. We come here at God's invitation. His Word controls our worship and his Spirit directs us to Jesus, on whom our worship is centered. As God speaks and we respond through the order of worship, our oneness with Christ grows more intimate. Our prayer is that God will bless you richly through His Word and by His Spirit, and that He will lead you to worship God with us.
We are Christian
We stand with the historic Christian faith as defined in the ancient creeds of the church: The Apostles' Creed and The Nicene Creed. We hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms as containing an accurate summary of what the Scriptures teach. Though these documents help us understand the Christian faith, the Bible itself is our only infallible rule of faith and practice.

Hurricane Katrina Relief HURRICANE KATRINA UPDATE From Mission to North America As we continue to follow the news from New Orleans and Mississippi, reports tell us of increasing flooding and loss of life continues to grow. Accordingly, we are realizing the need to respond at a level unlike any previous natural disasters in recent history in North America. Within the next few days, Mission to North America will gather a group of PCA key leaders from Louisiana and Mississippi to make plans for relief efforts. Mission to the World has also graciously offered to seek involvement from those who normally assist with disaster response overseas.
