181. Manshead Archaeological Society
For the study of the prehistory and history of South Bedfordshire and adjoining areas by archaeological methods. Outline of activities.

Manshead Archaeological Society of Dunstable
The study of the prehistory and history of South Bedfordshire and adjoining areas by archaeological methods. The Manshead Society is one of the few amateur groups which still undertake their own archaeological excavations. This means that local sites of interest can, where it is desirable, be investigated, studied and published by people with local knowledge and experience. Newcomers to archaeology can learn the skills of excavation, recording and publishing. Members undertake field-walking of cultivated land (with, of course, the permission of the landowners and farmers). In this way a number of previously unknown archaeological sites have been discovered and the information passed on through our publications. Study of finds goes on at the 'Les Matthews Archaeology Centre' (named after our late founder); this is at 5 Winfield Street, Dunstable. Taking part in all activities is encouraged but not compulsory! There is no better way to learn than by joining in. A journal is published annually, and there is a twice yearly Newsletter.

The Antiquity of Man Exploring human evolution and the dawn of civilisation
Introduction
AOM book Courses Ancient Egypt ... Contact
AOM mentioned in Archaeology magazine
"The Antiquity of Man" book and website linked to as well.
Since 07 July 1999, the site has been filling the important niche of a comprehensive scholarly overview covering many aspects of Palaeoanthropology, Archaeology, and Pre-Dynastic and Early Dynastic Egypt. This occurs through the provision of summaries of past and current academic thinking, research projects and debates. The number of archaeological research avenues, both past and present, are enormous. The site (which, despite the name, is anthropologically gender-aware) is comprised of three focus areas: Ancient Egypt (covering the Predynastic and Early Dynastic periods, up until the end of the Fourth Dynasty), hominin evolution, and exposing the vacuum of pseudoscience. Please note that the articles in all sections are by their respective authors and/or publishers. Articles which are either new or have been updated are marked with In addition, I have a page listing
