POP Overview
POP is an ocean circulation model derived from earlier models of Bryan, Cox, Semtner and Chervin in which depth is used as the vertical coordinate. The model solves the three-dimensional primitive equations for fluid motions on the sphere under hydrostatic and Boussinesq approximations. Spatial derivatives are computed using finite-difference discretizations which are formulated to handle any generalized orthogonal grid on a sphere, including dipole and tripole grids which shift the North Pole singularity into land masses to avoid time step constraints due to grid convergence. Time integration of the model is split into two parts. The three-dimensional vertically-varying (baroclinic) tendencies are integrated explicitly using a leapfrog scheme. The very fast vertically-uniform (barotropic) modes are integrated using an implicit free surface formulation in which a preconditioned conjugate gradient solver is used to solve for the two-dimensional surface pressure.

What's new:
A malicious program that installs itself by way of a pop-up ad can read keystrokes and steal passwords when victims visit any one of nearly 50 targeted banking sites. Bottom line:
The program is part of a larger trend, as malicious hackers increasingly focus not on random acts of destruction but on stealing money. For more info:

One flaw lets an attacker run a program on a victim's machine, while the other enables malicious code to "cross zones," or run with privileges higher than normal. Together, the two issues allow for the creation of a Web site that, when visited by victims, can upload and install programs to the victim's computer, according to two analyses of the security holes. The possibility that a group or company has apparently used the vulnerabilities as a way to sneak unwanted advertising software , or adware, onto a user's computer could be grounds for criminal charges, said Stephen Toulouse, security program manager for Microsoft.

Are you tired of those annoying Pop-up Ads?
Find out how to remove popups from your computer
Many web surfers have been expressing a great deal on annoyance and frustration about the excessive use of pop-up advertisements on the internet. Most of their anger is being expressed towards the webmasters and the owners of the web sites, however their anger might be misdirected toward the wrong source. Although it is true that many web sites do use pop-up ads to advertise specials and many belong to banner exchange programs the vast majority of webmasters and web site owners try to limit the amount of ads that pop up around their web sites because they do not want to alienate their potential customers with excessive and annoying ads. Spyware and Pop-ups
The information below contains a brief description and some helpful steps you can take to rid your computer of Spyware and Pop-Ups . It may be helpful to print this information to follow it. SPYWARE
In general, spyware is any technology that aids in gathering information about a person or organization without their knowledge. On the Internet, spyware is programming that is put in someone's computer to secretly gather information about the user and relay it to advertisers or other interested parties. Spyware can get in a computer as a software virus or as the result of installing/downloading a new program from the Internet.
In other words, it can steal information that is stored on your hard drive and send it to anyone it wants to without you ever knowing! It can also interrupt your network connections and slow down the performance of your computer. Spyware will get installed with a number of Peer to Peer (P2P) file sharing applications (such as Kazaa, Gnutella, and Morpheus). Some examples of spyware programs include: Gator, CommonName, Help Express, WebHancer, SaveNow, Bonzi Buddy, Bargain Buddy, HotBar, CyDoor, lop, Ezula, etc. If you see any of these programs listed under the Add or Remove Programs Control Panel they should be removed. Uninstalling these programs is the first step.

You must give all or nothing . (I suggest you give all) And remember, the beginning is always borring and hard...so don't give up ! Well, I'll start with the basics, like instruction format and some simple instructions to manipulate registers. I don't know how much you know about coding, so I'll explain even the most simple stuff. Please note, that I explain assembly coding. That means NO 32-bit registers and instructions and NO protected-, real- and virtual mode for now.
Ready to Start!
F irst of all, we'll talk about the registers and then about the instructions to manipulate (change) them. The has 14 16-bit registers, all with different usage (see below). You might not understand some of the registers purposes, but be patient, I'll explain everything later. Writing Pop-Up Dialog Widgets
QUESTION: I want to gather some information from the user with a widget program, but I can't figure out how to return the information to my program. Can you help? ANSWER: What you are looking for is what I call a modal dialog widget . Sometimes these are also called pop-up dialog widgets . Their purpose is to collect information from the user and return it to the caller of the program. These programs are typically written as modal widget programs, which mean they block all other program execution until the user interface is destroyed. What I am going to describe here is a simple modal dialog widget named TextBox . The purpose of this program is to collect one piece of infomation from the user in the form of something the user can type into a text widget. Whatever the user types will be returned to the user in the form of a string variable. For example, to ask the user for the name of a variable to store a processed image at the main IDL level, you might call TextBox like this: varname = TextBox(Title='Provide Main-Level Variable Name...', Group_Leader=event.top, $ Label='Variable Name: ', Cancel=cancelled, XSize=200, Value='stretched_image') IF NOT cancelled THEN BEGIN displayImage = BytScl(*info.image, Top=info.top, $ Max=info.maxThresh, Min=info.minThresh) dummy = Routine_Names(varname, displayImage, Store=1) ENDIF

Table garden I'm a sucker for anything miniature (and was pretty disappointed to hear that the Miniature Museum in LA is closed) so I'm digging this table garden. Maybe because there's such a lack of green space in city apartment living and everywhere I turn there's always some electronic device that's plugged in, but this little bit of "landscaped" green feels calming. It's pretty cheesy with the urns and bricks but that's why I like it. All you need is a miniature watering can and maybe a miniature garden gnome or two to accessorize and you're set. I love simple, low-tech solutions that are versatile and endure the test of time - post-its, double-stick tape, white-out, and of course, duct tape (my father's favorite household fix for just about everything). These things change and expand ever so slightly over the years to accommodate new uses but always retain those beautiful qualities of being recognizable and obvious as to function.
