This site covers New South Wales steamtrains, general history, humour, electronics, scifi and Australian politics.

G'day,
I guess by now you will see that I originally designed this web site for people who love Steam-trains. Maybe even for people who like or think they may be interested in, or who have relatives or friends who love, like or think they may be interested in, Steam-trains. Dont worry, it's not all trains . Over time, the site has expanded to include electronics, humour, history, scifi and politics. However, not everything on this site is straight forward. Some items are easy to find. Others take perseverance. Some, you will just stumble on. Why should websites be predictable? The name Locofonic comes from the following; ' loco ' short for locomotive and ' fonic ' meaning the sound thereof; i.e. the sound of locomotives, steam of course. This website consists of the following :-
  • A seven-part story on why I love Steam-trains. (From a 7 year-old's point of view going on a steam-train holiday.)
  • An infomation page on various NSWGR Steam-engines and others.
  • For our Victorian steam-loving cousins, a photo to lift their spirits.
  • My Electricks page where those electronically minded might find something useful.

Scary Shit Saturday, September 11, 2004
Disgusting.
Brushing aside the evidence, France and Germany declined to call the
killings genocide . Pakistan, currently a member of the U.N. Security Council,
warned of the danger in terminating engagement with Sudan's government. China,
the leading foreign investor in Sudan's burgeoning oil fields, said it might
veto a tough Security Council resolution . - from WaPost lead editorial on
Sudan.
Just vile. You can see why the Fox News set denigrates the French as much as they do. As much as I like Europe, and even though I'm a multilateralist, I've got to admit, I don't believe that France and Germany can be counted as allies. They aren't our enemies, obviously, but seriously. These seem to be pretty irreconcilable differences here. If our values really are that far apart, I just don't see how we can label these countries as allies.
I watched The Killing Fields again last night. I just can't believe that we haven't done anything to stop the most disgusting slaughter that I've ever heard of in my lifetime, when this administration is now basing almost the entirety of our rationale for invading Iraq on humanitarian reasons. So fucking hypocritical. The Janjaweed people in Darfur aren't just killing and mutilating the mostly Christian black Africans living there. They are also raping the women, hoping to impregnate them with a lighter skinned baby. That is absolutely the most repugnant thing that I've ever heard, that is genocide.

Hawaiian Society of Law and Politics (HSLP)
General Information
The Hawaiian Society of Law and Politics (HSLP) is a registered independent organization ( RIO ) under Co-curricular Activities, Programs, and Services ( CAPS ) at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa since October 30, 2003. The term Hawaiian is used in its national and geographical context and not in an ethnocentric sense. According to its constitution, HSLP's membership is multi-disciplinary and open to all currently enrolled students, faculty and staff of the University of Hawai`i at Manoa. Given that Hawai`i has been recognized as an independent State since 1843 and for half a century entered into treaty relations with other independent states, HSLP was established as a student organization that applies Public International Law, as between States, and applicable theories to Hawaiian history. HSLP will promote the development of curriculum on the subject of Hawaiian statehood under international law for the University of Hawai`i. HSLP was primarily an outgrowth of the international awareness of Hawaiian statehood brought about by the Larsen case (Lance Paul Larsen vs. Hawaiian Kingdom), 119 International Law Reports 566 (2001), held at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands. As a result of the Larsen case, several articles were published on the topic of the Hawaiian arbitration and international statehood in the American Journal of International Law (

postCount('092405a'); FRIDAY NEWS UPDATE. POLITICAL APPRENTICE. Will the voters say "You're Fired" or "Your Hired" to candidates trying to launch their political careers from appearances on Donald Trump's The Apprentice TV show. Perhaps you remember the bow-tie wearing, walking stick strutting prig and womanizer Raj Bhakta from Season 2? Well, it turns out businessman Raj, 29, is exploring a run next year against Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz (D-PA). "Another girl who got fired from The Apprentice is off eating bugs. I've gotten off and tried to talk about issues I think are important for the country. I care deeply, and that's why I'm doing this," he explained to The Intelligencer suburban Philadelphia newspaper. "For somebody who's not well-known by the electorate, except for people who watch the television show, I would say it's an uphill battle [for Raj] ... He could be a good candidate, but it's a question of money and message," said local GOP Chair Ken Davis. Raj has already launched three websites: a

In 1990 the kingdom joined the coalition that opposed Iraq's forcible annexation of Kuwait, and the forces of the coalition were largely based in N Saudi Arabia. In 1992 King Fahd decreed a new constitution; among its features were an appointed national council (est. 1993) with the right to review, but not overrule, government acts. However, the royal family's power was basically undiminished. In the late 1990s, Crown Prince Abdullah, the king's half-brother and heir to the throne, effectively became the country's ruler due to King Fahd's poor health. Under the crown prince, the country has been more openly frustrated with and critical of U.S. support for Israel. A treaty with Yemen that ended border disputes dating to the 1930s was signed in 2000, and early the next year both nations withdrew their troops from the border area in compliance with the pact. The Saudi government restricted the use of American bases in the country during the U.S.-led invasions of Afghanistan (2001) and Iraq (2003), and by Sept., 2003, all U.S. combat forces were withdrawn from the country. Also in 2003, the king issued a decree giving the Shura the authority to propose new laws without first seeking his permission. The move was perhaps prompted in part by rare protests in favor of government reform; the kingdom also was shaken by violent incidents, including a massive car bomb attack against a residential compound in Riyadh, involving Islamic militants. Such terror attacks continued into 2004.
