M i x e d u p s o c k s Filled With Rocks Caption Contest I saw Puff last night after work. Working with his roommate brings us together unexpectedly sometimes. Puff was talking about something and looked at me mid sentence. His eyes lingered. It was painful. I could see adoration and it was too much for me. I broke the glance and avoided eye contact for a while. The whole deal is incredibly unfair to us both. I want to find someone who I feel is my soulmate, and who adores me for the same reasons I adore him. Puff adores me and I have no idea why. I can't return the favor. One of the most attractive men I've ever known is in love with me, blatantly and painfully so. It's been obvious for years. I've tried getting to know him, kissing him, I've even tried to go to a baseball game with him. I just can't like him any more than I do. I don't mind if he's around but I don't have any desire to do anything with him. How sad. I'm sorry Puff, I tried. comments Random Page ...before........ v .........after... sdfsdf sdfafddf asdfasdfasdf afdasfasf search this site powered by free find

Balancing humor and passion, the proudly partisan Texas pundit elevates a profession dominated by mediocrity and received ideas. By David Rubien Pages 1 December 12, 2000 So which side does Ivins probably more proudly partisan than any other pundit in the business line up on in the biggest ballot-counting brouhaha in modern history? Well, of course she doesn't cotton to the idea of George W. Bush as president. Let's get that out of the way right from the start. Ivins, who writes a widely syndicated column for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, is a native Texan who, as a lefty, has a unique perspective on W. and all the Bushes. She recently authored the bestselling "Shrub: The Short but Happy Political Life of George W. Bush" (a title she may come to regret, temporally speaking), and she commented extensively on the unique follies of W.'s dad, George Herbert Walker Bush, during the president's glorious post-Reagan reign. Wading into the current breach, this is what Ivins wrote in her column of Nov. 19:

Opposes corrupt and fraudulent democracy. PGOV espouses direct democratic and anarchist or libertarian and antiwar principles, but throws some odd statements into the immigration and religion topics!

Our goal: to help all living things on earth and not be in charge of some food drive, fund raiser or another corporate media source acting as "for the people" If you are new to this, and you only read parts of this web site, you may get an impression that we are racists, conspiracy theorists or just people without jobs and nothing better to do - none of those 3 is true. Biggest deception: media . Government and media now work as a team: They understand that if media were only to push pro government agenda, all of us would quickly lose faith in them considering them bias and therefor it would lose its' power to manipulate elections. So media criticises government (when it matters little or none to their agenda) - Media plays a government watcher so we can relax and put our trust in them making sure government is in check. - They will expose and even fabricate to expose hypocricy of politicians. this serves one important purpose: we are convinced that media and government are two absolutely different players. but they're not: All media needs to do to make their team win is, when election time comes, suggest to us viewers who is standing where in the public opinion polls, and like a lifeform given oxygen, their chosen candidate survives and gets elected by us.

During a tour of the Middle East, Mr Galloway spoke of "poor Iraqis" using the most basic weapons to write the names of their towns "in the stars". The Respect MP accused the UK and America of "raping" Baghdad and said the US was losing the war. Labour's Eric Joyce said the comments endangered UK troops "in a small way". But claimed Mr Galloway held little influence. Martyrs? In a speech in the Middle East, Mr Galloway said: "These poor Iraqis - ragged people, with their sandals, with their Kalashnikovs, with the lightest and most basic of weapons - are writing the names of their cities and towns in the stars, with 145 military operations every day, which has made the country ungovernable. "We don't know who they are, we don't know their names, we never saw their faces, they don't put up photographs of their martyrs, we don't know the names of their leaders."

The family lived at Hulton Park, a large estate twelve miles outside Manchester . The family also owned land in Harpurhey and Denton. William Hulton died in 1799. William was only twelve at the time and had to wait until 1808 before he could inherit the family estate.
William Hulton won a place at Brasenose College, Cambridge . After university he returned to Hulton Park to marry his cousin, Maria Ford, and to manage his large estates and a coal-mine at Westhoughton. Maria had thirteen children, of these, ten survived into adulthood.
At the age of twenty-four William Hulton became High Sheriff of Lancashire. This was a time when workers were rebelling against the building of textile factories. In 1812 Hulton arrested twelve men for setting fire to a weaving mill in Westhoughton. Four of the accused, Abraham Charlston, Job Fletcher, Thomas Kerfoot, and James Smith, were executed. Abraham Charlston's family claimed he was only twelve years old but he was not reprieved. It was reported that Abraham cried for his mother on the scaffold.

Watch the briefing Tony Blair has outlined a raft of plans to extend powers to deport or exclude foreigners who encourage terrorism.
The UK can already exclude or deport those who pose a threat to security and Mr Blair said he also wanted to clamp down on those who advocated terror. The prime minister said he was prepared to amend human rights laws to make deportations more straightforward. But Lib Dem leader Charles Kennedy said Mr Blair's announcements would put the cross-party consensus under strain. The measures came as Scotland Yard confirmed they had arrested two more people in London earlier this week in connection with the 21 July attempted bombings. It brings the total of people still in custody over the bomb attempts to 17 - three of whom have been charged. Liberties fears On the new anti-terror package, Mr Kennedy warned that plans to ban Muslim organisations, powers to close mosques and deport people who "visit particular bookshops and websites" risked "inflaming tensions and alienating people". Shami Chakrabarti, director of civil rights group Liberty, said Mr Blair has attacked key human rights and would jeopardise national unity.

Library Life

by Jessie McQuillan, photos by Yogesh Simpson
It’s been nearly a decade since I counted this place as my haunt, but it doesn’t feel like I’ve lost a day. The raveling brown carpet has been replaced, as have the orange stalls in the bathrooms, for arguably more tasteful décor. Books have cycled through their life-spans. Some of the librarians—some patrons, too—I remember from years ago, only they’re older now, with more words under their belts. For a while, I just watch. An old couple, holding hands and moving slowly, drops books in the return bin. Two mothers escort five children to the morning story-reading. A handful of backpack-hauling 20-somethings head for the Internet stations to check their e-mail. Then I get down to the business of the day: Examining the library as an evolving public space that brings people together in largely solitary pursuit. Book reviews and author profiles and events like this weekend’s Festival of the Book in Missoula tend to examine books and their authors on their own individual merits or in relation to the broader realm of literature and its subgenres. Often overlooked, though, is the larger story that’s created when these separate, smaller pieces all turn up in the same place.
