Oh what a time we had at The Washington Poets Association's "Burning Word 2005" , a dynamic, all-day celebration of poetry, music, performance, and workshops, that featured more than 50 talented poets and musicians, ranging from internationally acclaimed, award-winning poets to up and coming new talents-encompassing traditional oral styles to slam/def poetry to downright experimental performances showing the incredible diversity of poetry. Interviews with Poets
Between the Lines specializes in publishing in-depth interviews with senior contemporary poets. The average literary interview is perhaps 1,500 words long, and is set aside as quickly as the journal in which it is published. Our own interviews average 25,000 words, and are meant to have a long shelf life. Accompanied by career sketches, uncollected poems, full-scale bibliographies (giving details of both primary and secondary literature), several pages of quotations from critics and reviewers, and - in more recent volumes - many pages of photographs, the interviews constitute what the critic Neil Corcoran has called "essential reading for admirers of these poets ... vigorous, illuminating and sometimes surprising adjuncts to the work itself".

The Raven The Raven at my window, tapping out my name. Speaking to me fondly, wants us to fly away. The beating of the drummer, echoing deep inside. The Raven now readies, our eternal ride. The bundle has no power, old ways are now dead. Nothing left to hold me, the owl nods his head. Mother Earth accept me, I touch the four winds. Soon I will be going home, The Raven told me so. Bill M. Back to top Broken Glass Cracked and broken facets of glass distorted reflections bringing forth doubts. Bangs and bumps added by neglect all that is left is this broken glass. When darkness descends no light to reflect the mirror that cracked cracks yet more. Outward appearances can be so deceiving no one can see the mirror in you. Bill M. Back to top I did it right A distant high-way, so long ago. A younger person now is old.
