The First Part Last
THE FIRST PART LAST by Angela Johnson (0-689-84922-2) With all of the awards this book has won, including the Coretta Scott King and the Printz, it is not surprising to hear that I loved it! This is the story of Bobby, who decides to keep his baby daughter Feather rather than giving her up for adoption. It is written with poetry and strength. Images here will stay with you long after you finish. Bravery is captured here, as is shame and heartbreak and hope. It is simply a lovely book. The cover is one of the best I have seen and will help the book circulate well. Teens of both sexes will enjoy it immensely. And even better than enjoying it, they will come away with insight that they did not have. Wonderful! My only regret is that I cannot read it for the first time all over again. Teens at the Library
PACKETONLINE News Classifieds Entertainment Business - Princeton and Central New Jersey I love it when libraries write about their successful partnerships with teens in their communities. One of the best programs I was ever involved in was creating a positive place for teens at a library. Even the ones that are handfuls have a heart of gold. Now years later when I don't miss my coworkers or the library any more, I still miss those kids. Posted by saecker at 06:46 AM Permalink Comments (5)

Cybertext and Computers as Theater provide two of several examples in new media. To reach outside new media, the development of Centering Theory, a theory of local coherence in discourse, provides a clear example of interdisciplinary work: the major work on it was done by a computer scientist, philosophers, and a linguist, using approaches and techniques from their different fields. First, where are the game studies programs that are situated comfortably in computer science programs? Honestly -

CREDITS Hebrew Poetry in the New Millennium Amir Or We are used to regarding the Bible as religious scripture, which was translated in the past to a multitude of European languages and is generally read today in archaic vernaculars. But this is not the case for the Hebrew speaker. Since Hebrew was revived as an everyday spoken language in the early 20th century, a linguistic gap of 2,000 years was bridged.(See Jack Fellman, "Eliezer Ben-Yehuda: A Language Reborn," Ariel No. 104, 1997.) On the one hand, an Israeli school pupil can read and understand the Bible in its original tongue, and on the other, if King David could have leafed through a book of contemporary Hebrew poetry, he would have had little difficulty in understanding its language. Beside its spiritual and historical content, for the Hebrew reader, the Bible is a cultural and literary heritage, rich in rhythm, music, and forms of speech. Most of the books of the Bible are pure poetry in various styles and on different themes: the stories of the creation, the patriarchs, victory and love songs, prophecies, hymns, and so on. In short, the beginning of the Hebrew Bible (the "Old Testament") is also the beginning of documented Hebrew poetry, some 4,000 years ago.

The Grand Finale
For Grieving Families...
On the 4th of July
Its getting late...
And dusk is settling in....
The 4th of July fireworks...
Are about to begin.
I wonder how far is Heaven...
As I look up to the night sky...
And wonder if my child is watching....
Just from the other side?
The Fireworks have begun... As they fly into the sky.... Just like my child, my angel... Who is forever soaring high. The colorful bursts explode... Into a spectacular show of lights.... And fill the heavens above... Its so beautiful and bright.. And as the fireworks fall... From the Heavens way up high... They burn out...and its dark again... And the crowd lets out a sigh. But..then another is lit...sparkling brilliantly As the light trails through the night sky... I think I am beginning to understand.. For its the same when our loved ones die. For a life that has burned brightly... Can never fade away.... For its rekindled through our memories... Each and every day. So even though my child has gone... To the Heavens up Above.... Their light will always remain ... And shine down on me with love.
