89. The Wondering Minstrels -- Frequently Asked Questions
The Wondering Minstrels is a poetryby-email service run by Abraham Thomas Also, if you have any specific questions, write in and we ll do our best to
http://www.cs.rice.edu/~ssiyer/minstrels/faq.html
Minstrels FAQ Version 2.0 FAQ created 09 Feb 2000 This version 03 Oct 2003: almost every answer revised :)
1. Errm, what exactly is the Wondering Minstrels?
The Wondering Minstrels is a poetry-by-email service run by Abraham Thomas and Martin DeMello, with an accompanying archive website created and maintained by Sitaram Iyer. Martin and Thomas (who prefers using his second name) send a poem a day, (almost) every day, to everyone on the Minstrels mailing list. Along with the poems we send personal commentaries, critical analyses, poet biographies, historical asides, trivia, links - basically, anything that catches our fancy. Sitaram archives these poems on the Minstrels website, which also offers options for reader comments and feedback, user-defined poem 'collections', links to random poems, and various clever sort and search options. You can visit the archive at http://www.cs.rice.edu/~ssiyer/minstrels/
2. Where did you get the name?
"A Wandering Minstrel I A thing of shreds and patches Of ballads, songs and snatches And dreamy lullaby." W. S. Gilbert, 'The Mikado' Apart from being a tip of the hat to one of our favourite poets (in one of his best snatches of verse), the pun on 'wondering-wandering' is meant to evoke a sense of the numinous - truly great poetry takes you on a journey of revelation and wonder, emotion and insight.
3. Who are you guys, anyway?

The facsimile reprints published by Woodstock Books over the last few years have given modern scholars a chance to read various pieces from the Romantic period in their original format, as well as to put them in perspective with other works considered important enough to deserve a modern edition. The two recent volumes published in the series certainly fulfil the ambition of the series, and reward any reader for their detailed perusal. Responding to a letter from William Taylor in which the publication of an annual anthology based on the French and German Almanacks was discussed, Robert Southey wrote on December 3, 1798: "I think of speedily editing such a volume." And the result was the first volume of the

Introduction Literary criticism is the evaluation of literary works. Literary criticism can take several forms. A criticism can compare a literary work with other works published during the same period. A criticism can compare one work of an author to other works also by that author. A criticism can compare a theme in the literary work of one author to the literary works of other authors who use the same theme. Most literary criticism is published in scholarly journals that are available primarily in print. Very few scholarly journals on literary criticism exist in electronic form. Online Catalog Subject search option to find books about the author’s work. Type in the author’s name as your subject. You can also type in immediately following the author’s name "criticism and interpretation", "bibliographies", or the title of a specific work.
