A New Israeli test confirms: PEI (Pigeon Enabled Internet) is FASTER then ADSL
"Never underestimate a pigeon carrying a memory card, hovering above your head, ready to download"- yossi vardi Will B2B (Back to Pigeons) save an endangered technology? On Friday , March 12, 2004 , a group of several dozen Internet addicts from Israel and abroad, gathered in the large grass field of the OHALO Center near the Sea of Galilee . The purpose of the gathering was to try and improve Wi-Fly - pigeon-empowered wireless internet and to confront this technology against ADSL. The participants sent 3 homing pigeons to 100 km distance, each carrying 20-22 tiny memory cards containing 1.3 GB, amounting in total of 4 GB of data. Dr. Yossi Vardi , with Ami Ben-Bassat, a science writer, and Guy Vardi, the CPO (chief pigeon/technical officer) conceived and run the test. The purpose of the test was to measure and confirm an improvement over the pi[ge]oneering method , conceived by David Waitzman , and first implemented several years ago in Bergen , Norway.

AN EVENING (WASTED) WITH TOM LEHRER
1. Poisoning Pigeons in the Park
I'd like to take you now on wings of song as it were, and try and help you forget, perhaps, for a while, your drab wretched lives. Here is a song all about springtime in general, and in particular about one of the many delightful pastimes that the coming of spring affords us all. Spring is here, a-suh-puh-ring is here. Life is skittles and life is beer. I think the loveliest time of the year is the spring. I do, don't you? 'Course you do. But there's one thing that makes spring complete for me, And makes every Sunday a treat for me. All the world seems in tune On a spring afternoon, When we're poisoning pigeons in the park. Every Sunday you'll see My sweetheart and me, As we poison the pigeons in the park. When they see us coming, the birdies all try an' hide, But they still go for peanuts when coated with cyanide. The sun's shining bright, Everything seems all right, When we're poisoning pigeons in the park. We've gained notoriety, And caused much anxiety In the Audubon Society With our games. They call it impiety And lack of propriety, And quite a variety Of unpleasant names. But it's not against any religion To want to dispose of a pigeon. So if Sunday you're free, Why don't you come with me, And we'll poison the pigeons in the park. And maybe we'll do In a squirrel

Please Sign My Guestbook My name is Rick Wood, and I have been raising pigeons all my life. I raise mainly English Pouters but do have some Brunners, Voorburg Croppers, Norwich Croppers and Poms. I also have some racing homers that I use for feeders. They are Van Reil, Bandit Jannsens and Sion. Have been selling alot of birds on the internet with great results. The birds I've been selling have been sold at a fair price for the quality of the birds. I've received good comments from those who have bought them. Hope you enjoy this site as I try and keep updating it so it is different from time to time. BELOW ARE SOME OF MY BIRDS

The pigeons probably use tiny magnetic particles in their beaks to sense our planet's magnetic field, scientists say The birds use their ability to create a map of this field and then use it to navigate back to their home loft, New Zealand researchers claim. It casts serious doubt on a theory that the birds use smell to navigate. Cordula Mora and colleagues from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, placed homing pigeons in a wooden tunnel with one feeder platform at each end of the tunnel. Attached to the outside of this tunnel were magnetic coils. The pigeons were trained to go to one feeder if the magnetic coils were switched off and to the other if the coils were switched on. Homing sense The scientists then carried out tests designed to impair their ability to detect a magnetic field.

Pigeons have developed "human-like" navigating skills Homing pigeons are finding their way around Britain by following roads and railways, zoologists claim.
They say the birds' natural magnetic and solar compasses are often less important than their knowledge of human transport routes. A 10-year Oxford University study discovered some pigeons turn off at certain motorway junctions and use landmarks to remember where they are. The scientists behind the study were "knocked sideways" by their findings. 'Plain to see' The pigeons' routes were mapped to within four yards by tiny tracking devices and global positioning system technology. Research team member Dr Tim Guilford said the results were "plain to see". "They don't follow linear lines all the time and sometimes when they're flying at 200 or 300ft above built-up areas it's difficult to see exactly what they are following. "But when they do follow a road, it's so obvious.

04 August 2005
Drunken wood pigeons have been causing headaches for bird rescue staff in Whangarei, with about 30 birds having to be rescued in the last couple of months.
Robyn Webb from the Whangarei Native Bird Rescue Centre said the kereru had been eating guava berries, which fermented in their crops, causing them to become intoxicated. "This year there hasn't been much food in the forest, so the birds have been coming into town to gorge on the ripe berries here, she told NZPA. "The problem is they are vulnerable to more predators, like cats and dogs." The centre had fielded many calls from members of the public, who had found "lethargic" kereru sitting on the ground after falling out of trees or bumping into windows while under the influence. Most stayed in the "de-tox" centre for a couple of days before being returned to the spot where they were found.

One of the very strange things you might see on the London Underground is the London pigeon which often travels on the tube as if it owns the place. If you're travelling on the tube in London you'd better get used to it.
Also, rats scuttle around the tracks of the underground too. Although it seems that the rats on the New York Subway are a bit bolder (see below)

http://www.kappa-psi.org/webmaster/babypgn2.htm
Baby Pigeons: Fact or Fantasy?
Introduction
This question has puzzled mankind since the early plasteolithic era (around the mid 1950's). Various investigators have tried to both prove and disprove the existence of baby pigeons, with varying results ( Bobs, 1960; White et al, 1961; Gibbens 1964 ). Up to this date, no conclusive evidence exists to either support or disprove the extinctness of this heretofore unseen creature.
As a result of our expensive literature search ( Ladies Home Journal Redbook Reader's Digest [large print editions] - 1960-1990; Annual meeting minutes of the American Audobon Society - 1966-1988; and the archives of the American Avian Society - 1940-1990), we were not able to find hide nor feather of any conclusive evidence that baby pigeons really exist.
Study design
In March of 1990, we embarked on a large scale multi-state study on a wing and a prayer to prove conclusively, that baby pigeons are mythical creatures, in the same cage as the Bird of Paradise, the Stool Pigeon, and the Bird Brain.
Hoping to kill two birds with one stone, we sent questionnaires to two target groups; the American Audobon Society (AAS) [obviously] and the Society for the Protection of the Tall European Red Stool-pigeon (SPOTERS), [whose current membership numbers about 17].
